I used to HATE getting stuck behind sand haulers on the way to location. SLOW SLOW SLOW!!! Now that I drive a truck, I understand why. Good washboards at about 10 mph, and the whole truck sounds like it's coming apart. And why won't my glove box stay closed?!Brettj3876, Vampire, Another Canadian driver and 2 others Thank this.

Cracked frames and suspension parts aren't cheap either.Vampire, Another Canadian driver, Dadetrucking305 and 1 other person Thank this.

Yup that sums it up lol.Good thing you didn’t get stuck behind me.I drive extra slow to make sure I don’t mess my truck up even if it means I lose a load a day. Some of these tards out here drive 40-50mph on these lease roads and wonder why there plastic trucks are missing the bumper and fairings.RefMata, Brettj3876, God prefers Diesels and 1 other person Thank this.

The guy that I’m hauling sand for has work around Waynesburg,PA but wants guys that are experienced in sand hauling for those parts.2 lane roads, escorts needed to get up to location and back down, truck stops with showers are 60 miles away, and to shower my buddies are having to leave their trailer at a location and then driving to a motel.Too much stuff going on and on top of it having to teach someone how the sand stuff works is why he only wants experienced in that area.Vampire and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

Do you know what kind of money owner operators are making? Do they keep things moving enough to get several loads in? I have a company wanting me to pull for them under my authority but I need to make sure the money is there before I start sending trucks up there. Any info would be great.

Sand box is definitely easier than grain trailers although there’s nothing to them either but regardless you better buy a good vacuum to keep in the truck. You’ll need it.
Vampire Thanks this. -
There's a hill here off PA706 called driveshaft hill Lol
Dadetrucking305 Thanks this. -
I disagree. When you pull up to the sand plant you have to get up on the walkway to open the hatch.Hopefully you lined up the hole if not you’re moving the truck again till it’s lined up enough to open the hatch. If it’s two boxes that’s twice at least you moved and at least 1-2 hoppers passed you up and are in line to load. That’s 30 minutes lost at least.Once loaded do it all over again. The hopper got in line and once in line opened his tarp.Got his ticket after loading and closed his tarp and is on his way to the well.Grain hopper is more aerodynamic and you can haul more tons.

You’re talking about air can. Yes, they can be miserable, especially if their hose is too long. Just a PITA.
