Did you even read my post? I got no issues with 420. I'm quite the supporter of it actually. HOWEVER, it has NO PLACE in this occupation. Regardless of legal status etc. If anyone wishes to smoke pot, go for it and more power to you. But, DON'T be a commercial driver tooling along the road in a vehicle 8' wide, 13.5 ' tall, 70' long and weighing up to 40 tons! People get killed! There's a reason why it is basically banned frommuse in this industry and it's a common sense justifiable reason I support completely!

You can’t pick and choose the occupation in which one thing is legal for this group but not another.
By that argument obese truckers should be banned from fast food restaurants. And all truckers should be banned from liquor stores and bars.
Responsible adult truck drivers should be allowed to consume cannabis when they are off duty. Reefer should be removed from a DOT drug test. Imagine how many drivers would be removed is they started testing for cholesterol.
I’m a part time Lyft driver. I’ve picked up many truck drivers from truck stops and driven them to dispensaries. So it’s already happening and it’s not causing more crashes. -
IDK, with that attitude, I hope you don't become a driver.
I wish you the best of luck. But, I think you are ignorant of the effects using pot has on one's ability to safely operate a CMV. This ain't flipping burgers.
With that, I've said all I'm gonna say about this. Don't expect another post from me. So, if you want 'the last word', be my guest.basedinMN_, SoCalKid, LtlAnonymous and 2 others Thank this. -
I know right the standards to become a driver are really high standards right.
You’re right. I won’t argue. Allowing responsible adult cannabis use could stain the stellar reputation truck drivers are known for. -
We cannot pick and choose which occupation pot is legal for and not others but the Feds sure can. Marijuana is still listed as a schedule 1 drug by the Federal government. Trucking is a Federally regulated industry and until the FMSCA changes the rules, it is not legal for truck drivers. Or pilots, ship and barge operators or railroad employees in safety sensitive positions.
Not saying I think it is right, because I don't. I see nothing wrong with smoking a doob after work. In fact I would rather share the road with someone who smoked some pot the night before than with the legal driver hungover from drinking. But until a cheap and accurate roadside test to determine if someone is "too high", the FMCSA isn't going to back off.BennysPennys, SoCalKid, Air Cooled and 4 others Thank this. -
True. I know there’s a bill that passed congress that still has to get through the senate that could potentially remove it from schedule 1.

The point is more "people who ask that question tend to ignore whatever rules they don't want to follow because "they know better"".
Then they foul up by the numbers and come here asking "who will hire me now?".TequilaSunrise, TexasKGB, runningman0661 and 1 other person Thank this. -
This documentary might change your opinion.

As long as he’s straight by the next time he turns the key, all’s well as far as I’m concerned.Air Cooled and Siinman Thank this.
