Anybody remember the old Blueberry Hill Cafe in Livingston Ca near the Foster Farm Chicken Plant? Great food. Also Red Monkeys in Tipton Ca. Boy he could sure put a tune on your radio back in the day.
Back in the day . . .

First truck I drove and yes while I am a youngster I did drive one this old. Boss loved his Antique units for grain. The old Transtar model Cabover this one had the old Rubber block Suspension that you needed 44K in hte freaking wagon to get any suspension since the tires would start to give. Then there were the ones my dad drove. He drove a 67 KW with 1693 Ktty cat 5X4 that made MONFORT GET THE HELL OUT OF THEIR LANE. The old tube tires you prayed like hell the retainer ring was on right if not well there goes a head.
JustSonny Thanks this. -
...And let's not forget the courtesy and respect each driver had for the other not to forget the common sense that the new drivers actually *learned* from the old timers.
BigJohn54, Tonythetruckerdude, Tractor7127 and 6 others Thank this. -
Every truck stop had a large section of the restaurant dedicated "trucker's only". Faster service, they said. And phones at each booth and along the counter so you could call dispatch while you ate . . . Dispatch really had no way to know where you were.
The only "on-board recording device" would have been a tachograph (not too common). This was a round piece of paper/cardboard that you would insert into a clock. Then you would wind up the clock. A needle marked your speed onto the paper. You could put a rubber band on the needle and it would read low.Straight Stacks, Midnight Magic, Tonythetruckerdude and 1 other person Thank this. -
Blue and White Truckstop (CFI's Supper Club) Clayton IN, just west of Indy. Even b4 they remodeled, it was the place for all CFI drivers to stop, had our own table, and there was always somebody there to have a cup of coffee with and tell some trucker stories. Full service, meant fuel, oil check, windows washed. Pull in let the porter take care of all the above, grab a cup of coffee, they would page you when done, pay the bill, tip the porter, hit the road, all off duty too.

How about Petticoat Junction on I5? Was it at Corning or Dunnigan? ####, I hate it when I can't remember.
-
The last time I was at Petticoat Junction was I guess in the mid 90's. The waitresses were getting older as in all way over 50! AND still wearing the skirts, petticoats and pantihose!
-
That was in Dunnigan.
Pilot there now. Well next door.
Sucked the last time I was there 6 yrs. ago. -
It was called Aladero Pantyhose Junction, I-5 and Road 6, Dunnigan Ca. Good place to stop and shower and eat after peddlin in the Gay Bay all day. Well at least back in the day. And at least half the gals were halfway hot that were bringing your vittles to ya, and some were a little extra friendly if ya know what I mean. Dang them were the days, I'm gettin old!!!!! -
Now going back in the day.
How about the old Peguas sp? restaraunt in Long Beach port??
First time I went in there I did'nt know what to expect.
I was just tired and hungry.
Was told go there park across the road and enjoy dinner..
Ok, I walk in and all the waitress were wearing nighties.
I mean naughty nighties...
Oh Joy Oh Joy..
Ok, just naughty nightie night I'm thinking..
Well I get up in the morning to go have coffee and breakfast..
Oh Lord same thing..
Did you ever try and have your morning coffee and see sexy women in nighties and still not spill a drop??
#### I miss that place..Last edited: Jan 26, 2010
