    Hi there.

Wondering if anybody here had any experience with160 Driving Academy, especially in Tucson. They offer financing so that’s a plus. What is their reputation though? I’ve heard some trucking companies look down on certain schools. It has a 4.5 (2 ratings) on Google and a 5.0 (1147 ratings) on their website . Hoping anybody here has any option one way or the other.

    Thanks!

What type trucking job do you want after graduating?

If you want something local, Coastal Transport is running ads for new cdl school grads from approved schools.

Here's another local job in Tucson that hires new cdl school grads.
One driver said he made over $80G his first year, right out of cdl school.

RE West says that they pay for training and you don't have to sign a contract to drive with them. You have to pay back your sign on bonus if you don't drive for them though. They are in Tennessee but it might work for you.

Thanks as always for the suggestions, Chinatown (and Flat Earth Trucker, just for the name lol). I definitely looked a Pima but they don’t have openings until July and it’s a 6-week course. For financial reasons, I’m trying to get rolling sooner than that (maybe good advice to anybody just thinking about getting into trucking: think 3 months in advance, not 3 weeks).

I called SWTDT and they just ended their financing program . It looks like 160 is the only option for financing, other than signing on with a mega and having an inflated tuition cost hanging over my head. 160 has a surprisingly low number of online or YouTube reviews though. Was hoping anybody here had gone through the courses and could tell me what to expect.

I’d like to do OTR flatbed. OTR would let me see the country, get the most amount of miles, and lower my personal overhead of rent and utilities. I hear flatbed is the most lucrative (if challenging), has the most job security, and lets me stay in shape from the exercise I’ll get.
