I don't want government in my business, that is the reason I do my part. My discipline, taking responsibility for my actions, and my habit of saving is keeping my business out of trouble at this time of the year. Brokers don't want to pay a fair rate, so I have parked my truck/reefer since February and as of today, im not complaining about brokers, politics, the president, wars, etc . etc.
have you noticed that the people who don't want gov intervention, are the ones asking the gov to punish brokers? So, when is personaly convenient they don't like the gov, but when it goes against their own interest, they beg gov intervention. So, if most of us would take responsibility for our own actions, we wouldn't be in this situation, hauling cheap loads, don't you think??

I wholeheartedly support this opinion.
I think this is where the question of if the product is of use to a person comes in.
In much the same way that a Diesel pickup is a sub optimal choice for me, I can see where the electric cars of today are not the best choice for wide swaths of the population. Manufacturers are making, and will continue to make, changes and advancements if they want more customers.
I tried to order a 1st gen Toyota Rav 4 EV back in 2002. Toyota RAV4 EV - Wikipedia They would not sell one to a cash in hand buyer because the dealer could only sell to municipal fleets as a lease. I also missed out on purchasing a lease return cause I was not socially connected to get one if it showed up in inventory.
Fast forward to now. A few months ago I went and looked at the Hyundai Ioniq5 and KIA EV6 when the first few hit the dealers. I would buy an Ioniq5 cash today if they had one that had the options I am looking for. Unfortunately they are seeing demand is far overreaching production and there are still very few showing in inventory.
Ford is turning away orders for both the Lightning Pickup and Mach-E because production for the next 2 years is sold out. The demand for electric cars is there, product is just not available.

I personally do not need the gov't incentivized charging infrastructure. If I would be going further than the range of the car I would trip plan appropriately or take one of my gas burners instead. But I try not to be as ignorant as I percieve a good chunk of the population is.Another Canadian driver, TheLoadOut, Hammer166 and 3 others Thank this. -

I've come to the conclusion that it's not only that brokers don't want to pay a fair rate, it's that they don't want to ask their customers to pay more! This is the reality happening now (at least in the car hauling world). The brokers are stuck in this mindset that $1 per mile is high, so when a customer calls them it's almost like a default setting for them. I'm betting too that the smaller brokers are too afraid of losing business so they keep quoting below fair market prices in fear of losing business.
It doesn't help that carriers keep taking these loads either. These nervous carriers and brokers are artificially keeping rates down and delaying the pain for everyone. Sooner than later though, things are going to pop. When they do, the entire industry will be hurt because snowbirds are going to stop flying, and car enthusiasts will stop buying. In other words, pain is coming, and we haven't seen anything yet.Another Canadian driver, chimbotano and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
So along with lumper fees there will be "jumper fees", need a boost of juice? Plug in! It's going to take us 3 hours to unload 26 pallets anyway. How would you like to pay for that driver?Another Canadian driver, GYPSY65 and Tigerfishinc Thank this.

Just like everything in life - with cash/credit/app!
You pay for diesel - you have to pay for the juice!
It’s just business- customer pays for it in the endAnother Canadian driver and TheLoadOut Thank this. -
you are absolutely right, however, We, the truckers have the LEVERAGE in this equation. Look, brokers must meet their date lines, no matter what. otherwise produce, meat, dairy products, and everything else that has expiration date will be thrown in the garbage. WE, the truckers can park our trucks and nothing is going to happen to it, a less we did not save our money. but, brokers knows that most of us are not disciplined at all, so there you have it.Another Canadian driver, TheLoadOut and GYPSY65 Thank this.
