Hauling Inoperable Equipment and needing a winch?

I’ve hauled em before, I’d rather have a wrecker load them. I don’t have a winch nor would invest in one

 

They've always set up and paid for wrecker.

 

Plus what kind of damage is sliding it across the deck going to cause. I mean if it has wheels ok, but if not.....

 

I’m another one opts for a wrecker now that I don’t have a winch-tractor anymore. The brokers are a question mark for me, I don’t get my loads from brokers. I’ve always just added the wrecker bill, with a copy of it, on my invoice as a bill through without marking it up. I’ve never had any fights over it, but it’s something I bring up when I get that sort of call, not something they get blindsided with on the invoice. I bet that would be a different conversation with a freight pimp though. Part of the pimps mile wide margin is the money in it to look after that kind of thing. They don’t like giving that up, they’ve got a cell phone bill and an interweb connection to cover you know.

 

Order a wrecker that has crane capabilities

 

I'd say either a Landoll type trailer or else you'd need a truck with a 30 ton hydraulic winch and a scissor neck float.

 

Normally detach, then drive around the back and pull the equipment on with the winch, then go back around and winch the trailer up onto the 5th wheel.

Probably way overkill for most moves though.
