Flatbed setup???

It looks like you have it covered.I run flatbed from Texas to the Pacific NW. Kinda depends on what you will be doing. Most guys that do Texas carry 6'drop lumber tarps,4 sets of coil racks, and 10 -5/16" 20' Grade 70 chains. And 18 straps.I have known guys that have straps only. That just puts limits on what you can do.

 

Winch bar and some edge protection for the straps.I always had 8 or 10 of the smaller 90 degree ones stashed in the truck.We always kept a box full of the small wedges for pipe,with some nails and a hammer.Nail the wedge on a 4 x 4 when hauling pipe or drill bits,along with a couple pieces of C channel 3 ft long or so,put in the pockets along the edge of the trailer when loading big pipe.

 

You guys realize that flatbed rates aren’t going to hold up much longer either. Plus they will drop as the weather starts to cool off again and that is closer than what some think. Lots of dead flatbed areas as well.

All I’m saying is be careful you don’t dump money into something that will go the way of the dodo bird before it benefits you.

 

Excellent point. Personally, I would stick to the vans if you are getting$5 pm. If a guy is just starting open equipment in our current situation it may be a tough learning curve.

If your not familiar with what you need, your not ready. Skateboarding can be very challenging, it’s not a walk in the park. You have to be aware of your securement regulations. I would stick with door slamming if your getting that much of a rate.
