DOT bars commercial drivers from texting

Texting is nice because it allows you to say one thing and one thing only. THEN, respond when you want. Voice calls are never so simple.

Plus texting is nice when in a loud bar or music hall.

 

But it's a stupid idea...In a truck going down the road.

They didn't ban texting in a bar or in a music hall...

 

I agree on both points. Someone asked why people text at all. I just answered that.

 

ive texted while driving before. Most people are too dumb to do it properly, but you have to do it WITHOUT looking at it.

but if you have an accident they're going to pull your phone records, and youre going to have criminal charges pressed against you....

When are they going to outlaw using laptops while driving trucks? Seriously saw it before.

And if talking on the cell phone is so bad, ban CBs. It's the same thing.

 

And yet, cops can still type away on their vehicle mounted laptops which are allowed to operate while they are driving, and still text from their personal cell phones while driving. I've followed 4 seperate highway patrolmen, 2 Colo., 1 Ks., and 1 SD in the last month all doing this, and in three instances watched the officers drive so poorly that if the roles were reversed they would stop me for careless driving, yet when I try to call and complain about the officer I'm told it's not against the law for him to do it.

 

Next time call in that there is a suspected drunk driver.

When you get their attention, advise weaving over the road, driving on the shoulder.

Then give them the description. Then contact the local news media.

 

I for one am glad it's law now, Ive seen too many idiot's out there.

Unfortunately, there are no cops around to enforce it, and fewer cops every day with the mass layoffs.
