Thank you, Thank you very much. Don’t know a #### thing after 2002. I knew I’d be keeping what I had. The egr stories I started hearing about $350 twice a year sometimes sounded horrible. Looking back, that was nothing compared to what was to come. I was told by an engineer at Detroit, who troubleshoots emission systems at the factory R&D that 2018 Detroit’s and newer are dependable emissions engines. Took them 10 yrs to work out the bugs.
Which old engines??

I'am not gonna bash on a Cummins.. to each his own ....
I'am just more comfortable with a Cat.. myself ... I had the opertunity to buy a really nice truck 2 years ago .. gave it a 30 mile test drive with a load behind it even ... spent 2 hrs in the owners shop trying to convince myself I could live with the Cummins motor because it was the truck I had searched for for 10 yrs .. but I just couldn't do it.. a Cummins is not in my personal comfort zoneFeedman and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
On a side note, Caterpillar sued Detroit for stealing Corporate secrets, via an Engineer that jumped ship and took the knowledge with him to Detroit. The technology for the series 60 electronic injection was developed mostly by Caterpillar. GM spun off Detroit, soon afterwards. Detroit was in a mess. Quality control issues, disgruntled workers, The series 60 saved the company. Cat won, they settled for millions 10 or more yrs later. By then Detroit had sold close to or maybe more than a million engines. Becoming the highest selling Truck engine. Took Cat about 7 yrs. till the E model to catch up with the electronics.

It’s not about pressure but flow, it does ok bout 18 lbs. but it will hit 36 before you snap your fingers. Yes I know folks make way more, but restriction and heat is what there doing. Gotta learn to do more on less boost. I can run outta southwest mo East to Virginia, hit 24 there at Paducah then 40 then 81 up through Bristol and hit 5.7 every day. That’s at 85500 gross which isn’t heavy in the scheme of things. That’s cull run holstiens so I ain’t in a big hurry we’re just easin along trying to keep them up. Ya know 70 75mph or somile marker 27, Feedman, Rideandrepair and 4 others Thank this.
