Ac compressor been replaced in september , been working fine untill 2 month ago ( working- not working , working while idling only , stops working completely , restart the tractor - works for some time , no pattern at all )
2 weeks ago shop checked freon - all good , replaced high pressure switch.. same thing ... Its working 20sec , not working 2 min , 45sec of work etc ... Mechanic connected some type of device instead of AC and said light is steady and its possible faulty compressor ....agreed to order one and replace this week when driver come back
So driver called completely exhauseted that he is fried in Newport TN and its completely not working at all . I sent him to the hotel and trying to find a solution or decent knowledgable shop who will be able to take care of this issue . He is heading towards kansas city

Plenty of shops in KC but I only deal with the Volvo guys so not gonna be any help. Should be an easy fix for most of these shops around here.

Is the cabin air filter clogged? Does the compressor clutch engage, if it doesn’t engage, is there voltage? If there is and the clutch doesn’t engage the clutch could be bad.

If there is no voltage, a fuse or cycling switch could be bad.

Did they change the ac filter? Is the condenser dirty? Is it clogged? Spray it with a hose and see if air gets cooler. If you remove hose and air is warmer ,could be clogged condenser. Did you check the drier? That might be bad and sending desiccant to the compressor which is not good. If the compressor was replaced and not the dryer with it, that could have contaminated and destroyed the new compressor.

    Good luck.

Do Cascadia have relays like older Freighliners? I rode around for a couple of days with no A/C until finally decided to check the relays and found a bad one that controlled it. About $10 spent at an auto zone and I had A/C again.

Its easier to fix when its my truck i drive ... But when its driver - always unknown ... Prefer to find someone knowledgeable and take care of it , i am in chicago - he is in TN ... and he is not very mechanically inclined to play around ......
Dryer wasn't replaced for sure ... I drove that truck myself to fix all little issues and mechanic never mentioned it ... Maybe its the problem

The older Freightliners had a control module that work the fan circuit that was tied into the air conditioner and if that control module went crazy your air conditioner would not work right.

The Cascadia is newer but I would imagine on that truck somewhere there is a control module that is similar.

There also is an actual Air Conditioner relay if that goes bad it will cause you to have intermittent problems. The older Freightliners also had a temperature probe that if that had any problems your air conditioner would not work properly.

If your air compressor was replaced in September and they're telling you it's bad now whoever did that job didn't know what they were doing.

You do have to replace the dryer when you open the system up and the rest of the system needs to be completely flushed before you do anything. And it has to be vacuumed down before you refill. On top of that that compressor and that system has to have the exact right amount of oil because that will cause you not to cool right or it will destroy your air compressor.

My guess would be that if you are having an intermittent problem to check out wherever that control unit is because there probably is one on that truck similar to what was on the older trucks. They were quite problematic and often went bad.

And if your compressor itself really is bad keep it away from whoever did that job for you before. They cost you a lot of money.

@Rideandrepair is the AC guru, lol.

    Maybe he can help.

    @pavrom

Inland Truck parts and service does good work, I had the OKC location fix my AC several years ago. They have a location in the KC area 8801 NE Parvin Road that has good reviews.

Low pressure switch and or ac relays in the fuse box.

You might also try a ac reset with the dash. You'll have to Google a YouTube video for instructions.

Sounds electrical to me. Check all connections thoroughly like the compressor relay/fuse and the plug and wiring to the clutch.
