Have you been to prison? Or are you basing that rediculous comment based off of something you read on a forum?

I must admit my ignorance on life in prison. I merely based my comments by what I've seen portryed on TV documentaries.
So, please, by all means, enlighten me!
What was prison like for you???

I worked at a state prison in oregon as a corrections officer, they have cable tv, 2 tv rooms, they have cells with a head phone jack to plug headphones into to listen to radio, they push a button to change stations, they get 3 square a day, they have shops to work in, class rooms for education, medical care all of it, outdoor yard time with workout weights a track to run and walk. They even have what they call canteen where they can use funds they get from family to buy snacks like snack cakes, candy bars, crackers peanut butter ramen noodles, yea they have it pretty good in there till big bubba wants his favors. I had 3 years of that and got to where i was tired of working behind locked doors and gates , always looking over my shoulder watching the inmates and wondering if the person i was working with was going to be there when needed or if they would run when the chips were down, yes that happend with one guy, he got scared and ran out on his partner leaving him to defend on his own, pretty scary thought. when i left i was making $2800 dollars a month and would probably be at $4,000 a month had i stayed but i am more at home in a truck and like my freedom to much to stay working in a hole like that, and you would be surprised at what inamtes cry about and sue over the stupidest crap. At Pendelton Oregon where the state prison is at an inmate sued union pacific railroad over the train blowing the horn there at the crossing and he won, now the train cannot blow the horn at that crossing anymore, there is sign that reads beware train cannot blow horns here use caution.

A prison is run by the people that are in charge. If you have a very treatment oriented prison, like Oregon, they get everything. If you get a very punishment oriented prison, like PA, they don't get much.

It all depends on the state government............................
