I have a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia. I am getting stuck between a rock and a hard place on the length of my air lines. This has to be handled delicately.
I just had the airlines gradually cut off the quarter fender (rigid plastic mudflap) between the front drive tire and the cab of the tractor. I think that the reason that the airlines cut off the quarter fender is that they were adjusted with too much slack. So I just got the quarter fender replaced. I tightened up the airlines so that the airlines would not cut off the mudflap again. Five minutes after I got the quarter fender replaced, I pulled into a truckstop and did a U-turn to get to a parking spot, and the (blue) service air line broke into two pieces.
Has anyone else had this problem(s)?
First, the air lines is too loose and it cut off mudflap. Then you tighten the airlines, and the airline snaps into two pieces at the first tight turn you make.
Does anyone have any tips for adjusting the airlines properly?
I think I am going to let the mobile mechanic adjust the airlines this time.

Pogo stick on deck plate?

Be prepared to fix those plastic coiled pains in the butt a lot. Sunshine dry rots and makes them brittle and cold makes them crack and shatter like glass. Go old school heavy wall rubber. Keep them routed properly with a pogo stick and a spring and they will outlast you.

Use a pogo or the long spring and the slider bar on the back of the sleeper .
and keep a spare set of gladhands
lucky you broke them at a truck stop .
break one at 2 AM at a paper mill in podunk Arkansas, and you’re in a pickle .God prefers Diesels and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
The pogo stick on a spring is what i have. The straight air line keeps breaking. The second mobile mechanic replaced the straight air line with the far superior coiled air line. The coiled air line has lasted so far.

You need two (2) lanyards with springs. Place them about two feet apart where they connect at the airlines.
