Glad everyone was ok.

Like the others have said, I'm glad no one got hurt. Thats what one would call a miracle.
I very nearly got a car with an idiot woman driving and at least two kids
Only problem was the weather was 100% beautiful and dry road. No excuse for her to make a U turn in front of me. I still remember the fear in her kids eyes that was sitting in the passenger seat as she completed her turn just under the hood of the W9 I was driving at the time. I was going the speed limit (65) for the road I was on and when she started her U turn I locked it up and nearly pulled the horn cord out of the ceiling panel. She chose to stay on the shoulder rather than pull into the driving lane. That probably saved her and the kids life. Had she pulled in front of me after completing the U, I still would have hit their plastic SUV going far too fast for the health of the car's occupants. -
Landshark, I was up in Georgia during the storm on Sunday towing a truck up above Atlanta on a swap out, and I was not surprised to see the dozens of cars running around with the 4ways on and no other lights. (wonder if they know that the automatic lights have the old switch you can turn or pull to get real headlights).
And between I185 and 285 I counted 9 cars - pickups - SUV's in the ditch or median...
Now as a Heavy Duty Tow Truck driver I see all the results and I hear a ton of excuses and reasons for wrecks, but it amazes me that I continue to hear "but the speed limit sign did not change due to the weather conditions"
That means that most everyone has forget the "BASIC RULE" which says you can only drive according to road conditions. -
Glad things worked out.
I had something similar happen on the NB I-5 through North Salt Lake during a snowstorm. Lady in a car did a 180 in front of me and then stayed that way. Hauled the truck down as fast as I could without skidding out of control. At one point the front of her car disappeared from view, but we never touched. Her eyes were as big as headlights, and I'm sure something needed cleaning afterwards.

LS, How did things work out with the police? Sometimes we get to be at fault even when we aren't.
-
after the police arrived I escourted her to the trooper she sat in his car for about 30 min. That's when I started taking photos of the scene. Trooper then called for me. All he asked for was my license, registration and insurance. That's it. Seems she admitted fault for the accident. However earlier to day, just to C Y A. My company followed the book for post accident procedures. I guess when in an accident in a big truck you must cover all the bases so nothing comes back to bite you later. I was not charged with anything and wasn't issued a traffic ticket either.

I had a real knott in my stomach reading that, all the way through Im thinking "she's gonner die". I'm really glad I got it wrong. She definitely had someone on her side.
Say a quiet prayer to the Diesel Gods tonight. -
A few years ago while traveling I-95 in CT I was on my way home when disaster nearly struck. Off ramp traffic came to a stop causing traffic in the right lane to stop. As I was approaching the first four cars had stopped the fifth one didn't. I struck vehicle 4 pushing it into vehicle 3 which ended up sitting broadside in front of me in the center lane. I remember the look on the blonde woman in the tan jacket as I slammed on the brakes. I took a quick look to the left. #### an suv. Sorry buddy I thought as I hit the directional and made an abrupt lane change forcing the suv into the grass median, and narrowly missing the car that was in front of me. As I went by looking in the right mirror I saw that there was no one behind me thank God.
