And this is why GMRS is a good alternative to 27 MHz, NO Skip!!!Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Has anyone tried GMRS as an alternative to CB??? Or is this just another wasted thread

I've carried handhelds on the road. Quiet as far as drivers go, but I've heard a couple repeater groupsAnother Canadian driver Thanks this.

I could be wrong, but I don't think truckers will ever completely abandon the CB band. I got a feeling most drivers aren't going to be too excited about buying a license to start with, just to get the most power and use of their GMRS radios. Plus the noise toys (if you like them or not) have always been a big part of CB radio. Also CB radios are easily available to buy at truck stops vs GMRS radios.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Hmm, do you remember the original reason for the "CB Handle"??? Wasn't it an alternative way to ID when you didn't have a license???
BTW: I think there's already LOTS of unlicensed activity on GMRS, there are far more radios being sold than licenses
