There seems to be so many niches in this industry. Why wouldn't "starter company" just be another niche....that's what the big megas are used for anyway. The companies know it just like we do. They're there for new drivers to gain enough experience to move on to something else, and the formula works, for the most part. Why not play to their strengths is all I'm saying. In a perfect world, they would put more effort into adequate training, if that's what the main focus was. This ain't a perfect world, so we all know that wouldn't happen, but what if? USX, for example, when I was there; had a pretty good team fleet.....good miles, decent pay, and they normally kept the teams in brand new equipment. The solo guys got crapped on, so why even have a solo division? I trained 4 new drivers while I was there, and the training program was very sub-par. I stopped training because of that. You can't make a truck driver in 3 weeks. So why not market themselves as a training company and put majority focus on that? They didn't pay experienced drivers enough to get out of bed anyway. I'm not trying to bash these big companies, just wondering what if?

I certainly do appreciate honest advertising more than that old USXpress ad of money raining down in the cab of the drivers truck.

They do that kind of stuff on purpose because they know truckers are mostly men. Kind of sexist if you ask me but whatever.
