I thought I would post some random trucking questions here as the thread goes on.

Are CAT scales associated with Caterpillar?

How does the trucker check the tail lights and turning signals, reverse lights if they are by themselves?

Do most trucks nowadays have built in cell phone? If so, does this cell phone provide wifi access even if not at a truck stop?

Bobtailing - driving just the tractor? Deadheading - driving a tractor and trailer, but the trailer is empty?

Automatic transmission trucks, is the Jake Brake normally still manually activated?

Do private trucking terminals (Werner, Schnieder, Western Express, Swift, etc) sometimes repair trucks belonging to other companies for a fee?

    Certified Automated Truck Scale.

For reverse lights, put it in reverse. Kill the engine. Turn key to on position. Get out and look.

    Rest has been covered.

Truck lights as mentioned. Also bungie trailer break down for break lights, or easy in the dark.
Some trucks have a check lights button.

AS far as checking lights. Turn on the four ways and running lights. Blinking four-way lights are the same as directional indicator lights.

Brake lights: look to put the trailer near something reflective like windows and check in your mirrors. Alternate is when docking check your mirrors that you see them activate equally on both sides.

Or if in a newer tractor turn on the light check switch and walk around. That cycles through all the lights.

When a tractor is hauling/ towing 1 or 2 others by “piggybacking” them.(pardon me if there’s a better term for it) How does that affect things? Like weight distribution, steering, handling, etc? How does it work on the scales? An finally. Are DOT more inclined to pull this setup over?

I’m not planning on doing it. I’ve just always been curious by it.

If the feds rescind the diesel fuel federal tax will you owe that money at the end of the quarter or year?

Don’t know how that’ll work but I wouldn’t trust them
