The driver! They call that action CSA2010!:biggrin_25525:

I don't text at all so this new law doesn't change my life. Aside from the clear disregard for due process mentioned earlier, the irritating part is the way they word the articles & quotes that idiot politicians babble. If you did not know better, all wording concerning this ban would lead you to believe that the only offenders doing damage are commercial trucks.

Last Time I checked I don't need to look at my CB to use it... I am not typing in the message, I am grabing the mic from the same place it is always in, pushing single button, speaking, and then letting go of the button.... Hmm, eyes never left the road....:biggrin_255:

Speakin of the CB, someone on it just brought up a point. How are they supposed to prove you were texting when they're way down there and we're way up here? Sounds more like, "Oh, you have a phone/laptop, you must have been texting, here's your ticket."

    Thieves.

Nope. They look at when the texts arrived and were sent if you mess up and crash or see the glow of the cell phone light on your downward pointed face as you hit the rumble strips.

Too bad the tow companies use pagers that receive text messages to dispatch calls. Guess they won't be clearing anything off the road or showing up to impound anything.

Didn't think a that, did ya.

Most State's all ready have this law enacted for all vehicles and driver's. From my vantage point this is very hard law to enforce. I've never charged anyone with texting while driving. Even harder to see in a truck and see the driver texting. I agree with a lot of the posts, the only way I see this being enforced is after the fact such as a crash. Just my .02, not like they mean much anyway.

I see 'em every day....It's so easy to spot them, Weaving from rumble strip to center line and then you pass 'em and they hold the phone down so they think you cant see it!

    It's pathetic!

I always say something to them on the radio and have yet to have one of the idiots ever have the cojones to say anything back.
No one can text and maintain proper control of a vehicle! If you think you can, You're wrong!

I agree. You can see them, but proving it beyond a reasonable doubt is hard in court. Most State's have a careless driving/negligent driving charge which is easy to get a conviction on. But to testify that you saw the operator "texting" is a hard one to prove. The operator will say anything, "I was dialing a phone number". "I was doing this or that." I'm still looking for the charge, "Driving while stupid." I could write that citation all day long.

Next ban, Driving While Thinking About Other Things.

State Police and DOT will have to develop Thought Police corps to aid
    in enforcement.

Why would I have to? I bet the a-holes the text and drive won't stop either.

BTW, what ancient type tow companies do you have there? They use cell phones around here.
