Is anyone out there in Drayage in California? The new rules by the Air Resources Board are requiring near zero emission trucks and in 2024 only zero emissions trucks. What would you guess an all in Lease, including charging and maintenance on an electric truck would be monthly?
-
Thanks for the suggestion. They currently have no trucks. I was looking at those used prostars they had a while back for around 45k but that ship has sailed and probably never coming back again. I've decided to wait and watch the market then reevaluate after new year.

If you wait till then, sometime after the 1st qtr next year my truck and trailer will be for sale.John Joel Glanton Thanks this.

I’m sure they’ll have huge rebates from the government for getting one, I heard the new Tesla truck is about 500k, runs 500mi before needing a charge and takes only 30 minutes to charge so it can be done on your 30 min breaks. It’ll be far cheaper than diesel truck because hey no fuel cost. Then only paying for 30 minutes of electricity every 500 miles or maybe Elon will make charging free like he already has for all car charging in the UK. Who knows but it’ll be a fraction of the operating cost of diesel trucks.
-
That is only a pipe dream with current infrastructure. There are very limited charging stations and charged on your 30? You'll see lines 3 trucks deep trying to plug in.
No fuel cost? How much coal, wind, oil, solar, nuclear etc does it take to produce that 30 minutes of electricity? Is the PRODUCTION there? How many Amps/Watts?
The zero charge for cars you are referring to are limited for now to incentivize the stations. After they are built, any charging for a non-Tesla at said station will have a huge surcharge. -
While it isn't under your own authority, try Silver Trucking LLC out of St. Louis. Buy your MC,DOT. Then run under theirs. 88% gross. Reasonable deductions and fees. Bite the bullet and wait a year while you are submitting your carrier packet to any and all brokers while running for Silver. Once your numbers have matured enough for said brokers, leave and then run your business.John Joel Glanton Thanks this.

I think SFI meant if you buy the truck and try to immediately run it under your own authority then your authority would have to be 1 year old if you lease on SNI and stay with them or lease on to another carrier at least 6 months-1 yr you can pay the transfer to run under your own authority with a brand new authority.
