I'm not a truck driver. My friend is apparently took a family dollar contract for 2-3 weeks paying $1800 a day. He said he pay me 200-250 a day to help unload. I said I would which means I'd leave my job making 150-250 a day I'm self employed no boss no co workers. That was last night when he asked since then I've dug deep looking into this job. Not sure if I wanna give up my relaxing 150-250 day to be in 53' truck unloading. Said I'd be home every night... I'd be doing Maquoketa, iowa family dollar dc. And suggestions, comments, remarks etc are welcome please and thanks. This seems like a very good community yall got

I think that's a more personal decision to be made. Not something I'd think anyone here could really have much input for you. However, I can give you a trivial tip. If you take it, with the recent news on Family Dollar, you might get you a nice, young, athletic barn cat & take with you. When yall get loaded, throw that cat in there & let it catch all the mice & clean that issue up before you get to the delivery.

Forsure definitely personal decision your right. When first offered seemed like a easy 2-3k to ride along and unload but more I look into lol sounds like it's more of a **** show with a chance of mice n rats in the mix.. thinking I'll stay with my own thing I got goin. Save me the hassle. Thanks for you input much love

It’s so weird
Other businesses like fast food and normal restaurants and auto parts and hardware stores get regular deliveries , yet don’t seem to be a total #### show like the dollar stores .JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
I ran those loads from July of 2021 until March of 2022. I picked up loaded trailers from Marietta, OK (Dollar Tree DC) & Duncan, Ok (Family Dollar DC). On the DollarTree side, I delivered to stores in Arkansas, New Mexico, West Texas, Colorado, & Arizona. Usually 3 or 4 stores per trip. Mesa Arizona was $6k to the truck. Denver/Colorado Springs was $5k. Only went west of Denver once to Rifle, Co, Vernal, UT, and some other small town in Utah....that was $7k. I've always finished all of my stops in one day unless there was a delay. They pay $750 for layovers if required. You'll pull a SWIFT trailer out of the DolarTree DC and they have crappy tires.
On the Family Dollar side, I've only run the DFW Metro and they pay $1800 per trip. I did 5 trips a week easily and went home every day. The key is to be at your first stop on time. That's generally 5am. If you hump, you'll be ahead of schedule and finish early. I was home by 5pm most days. If the store employees are slow, let the broker know and they'll approve your $750 layover if you go into a second day. You'll have a Family Dollar trailer on Family Dollar Loads.
I'm almost 49yo & 350lbs...It's not that hard if you're used to working. If you've run flatbed with 8' drop tarps in the Texas heat, you'll be fine! For me, it was just refreshing to be at home most nights and still made good money.FullMetalJacket, Nostalgic, RubyEagle and 5 others Thank this. -
The inside of a dry van trailer gets to be about 130 degree’s in the heat of the summer, no thanks.
JoeyJunk, 48Packard, Zoltan1a and 1 other person Thank this.
