Should I ask for an inspection so brokers will work with me?

Im wondering if this is something new. Maybe because of the record amounts of new entrants? I’ve heard this twice myself recently. They’re looking for past 24 mos. Haven’t been inspected in 3 or more years. Not about to volunteer for one either. I’ve had my share, at one time averaging every 6 weeks. I’ve had over 75 inspections. Unheard of. I actually started asking each one why they stopped Me? I stopped counting 10 yrs ago at 62. Passed all but a few, for minor things, that were easily corrected, and kept rolling. My insurance Company also required a Copy of annual inspection this year, due to Truck being over 20 yrs old. That’s a new one too. Lately I’ve been running every backroad possible, if I have the time, to cut down on miles. I used to welcome inspections, having confidence in my equipment. I’d just assume avoid the hassle.

I got a few inspections. I stoped and and informed law enforcement that I was a newer company and wanted to do things right. I asked them if they could take the time to do one, one asked if I wanted a level 1. I said, please and thank you. Problem solved and I got some on my record.I obviously went thru everything first. If I can’t find something wrong, nobody can, unless it’s falsified.once you get a few good ones, they back off at the scales. It’s better to pick the place and time of your battle than your opponent.

Brokers want inspections because more and more double brokers are being caught. You can tell a double broker by looking at its inspection history and most if not all have 0 but usually show 25-50 trucks. Also any one asking to buy an MC with clean history and inspections is most likely a double broker.

@RedForeman I don’t know how those scales work. How much were you over? When I got caught in NY at 93,000 and pulled the drives on the scales the trooper’s words were: This isn’t good. I had to refrain from laughing as I knew I was heavy.

Wasn't me. Georgia DOT posted that. Probably a pulp wood hauler. That dial looks like it goes up to 20k and he went half a turn past that LOL.

It looked like an expensive spin on the wheel of misfortune.

Is it possible to get, and pass, an Annual Inspection and then send it to your state DOT/DMV and ask them to add it to your inspections record?

State inspections must be done by state facilities. I know of no state that will accept a Fed inspection over their own.
