    gears,

Kids were off from school today due to the snow, so I'm off also playing Mr. mom.

I forgot to mention about form 2290,heavy highway tax.

    Doing that tomorrow.

Thank You! I have read the thread that you've recommended. Good information there. I am not sure if I am going to switch over from bus driver to truck driver, just an idea that is swirling around in my head right now. Will continue to read posts and learn from these message boards. Appreciative for the response. Thanks Again!!

The Jan 10 issue of Overdrive Magazine has a lot of information on dealing with brokers. Go to the overdrive webste and they have a digital copy available.

Oops...forgot to mention that one on my previous post. Looks like you got a pretty tight handle on everything. And what will you be driving?

me? ME?? well, if things go as planned (no plan survives first contact with the enemy) I'll be learning how to drive all over again. Going from a volvo powered skateboard to a 379 powered shotgun tanker. :biggrin_25522::biggrin_2556::biggrin_25525:

    gears,
Thanks for the response, still working part time for a small company as mentioned before to gain wheel time,I found 3-4 Volvo 670 and 780's for sale.
I'm not in a big hurry to buy any one truck, they would be checked out by a heavy truck dealer before the transaction would be made.

The one I'm interested in is an '05, 780, 500hp Cumm.,13 SP. Fuller with 415k on the clock, all new rear brakes, needs front brakes and 2 frt. steer tires ( I would prefer it this way so I know myself they would be new).I'll try to attach a photo.

I had listened to your advice, and yes I could purchase this truck w/o financing, not having a monthly truck payment would be nice.

As of Monday,Feb. 1st,2010 all of my paperwork should be filed with the exception of insure.(I called, they can originate the policy 24/7 via phone.)

As I stated before,I'm in no hurry, but want to be working full time(rather than currently part time) especially now that a local company had offered me work for local runs with my own truck/ authority.

Any other suggestions, please post them here,I'll listen.
    Almost there.

    Thanks,

    crusin

Pretty fancy rig there! I suspect you might even be able to get some type of warranty with it as well? I think those Volvos are pretty well equipped. I drove one for few weeks this past summer. They've got a pretty tight turning radius, ride pretty smooth and I thought pretty quiet on the road too, compared to my current Freightliner at least. I'm sure you'll get it checked out and will be on the road in style before too long. Congratulations!
Volvo is one of the trucks on my "to consider" list as I plan on upgrading towards the end of this year.
