Probably my favorite was harvest hauling on the farm. 71 to 75. Old trucks that ran, but may not stop.
1970 I was living on an Amish farm. Dale and Dan had one speed, ssslllloooowwww. All the way into town, clip, clop. Smacking the reins and yelling encouragement, just made that team roll their eyes at you. I gave them carrots anyway.

76 to 88 trucking was fun. You needed to know how to drive, how to fix whatever had broken and how to improvise and overcome. And if you needed help, someone was about to pull in behind you that knew how to fix it, or could drag you to the closest shop. And you always had someone to have a meal with, just sit down at the counter. Yeah, there is a lot I miss from those years.

I’m no different than you there. Chain law on the highway I put my guys to bed so those other idiots don’t kill them. The passes are a ####show every time it snows anymore and I don’t want them out in that. Chains are just a part of our thing though. We’re usually 130-140,000 and almost half of our miles are on industrial road or a Cat trail cut through the bush. Most times it’s terrain not weather has you ironed up. And I totally understand if people want nothing to do with any of that.

As long as it takes for some poor schlob to pee it out, go through sewage treatment and be reprocessed.

I don’t think they know their customer base really well. But I’m just a snob craft beer guy.
