60 days to walk across the country.

Guessing that la to new york is 3000 miles...

At 2mph that would take 1500 hours.

    60 days is 1,440hours ...

So in theory they are correct.

    BUT

if you could average 2.5 or 3mph.

    You can beat the system.

    Drink heinikin instead.

Cat iron isn't what it used to be these days. I'd say its the same as everything else on the market.

I walk at just over 3 mph, so about 50 mi a day given 8 hrs for rest. So 60 days would be perfectly accurate, or thereabouts.

Okay, now you're talking. Terrain, I agree with chaining. Been there, done it...for the reasons you cite weather related...not a fan. :) Terrain, you do it it move, weather you do it to TRY and stop. Don't like to gamble. :)...So essentially, we are in agreement. :)

Easier said than done. Terry Fox made it about halfway across Canada in 143 days.

I couldnt even begin to think about walking that far... If the average person normally walks about 1 mile per day... This 1 cross country trip would be over 8 years of walking! My legs would be gone. Probably have to rent a horse along the way .

About 6,500 km/4000 miles if you don't count taking the ferry over to Vancouver Island.
