    Latin I think for "inter or intra ossia'... means 'in the bone'.... AND make my bones hurt just thinking about it.. coulda been way worse, but man... lucky guy.

    Intraosseous They stick an iv into your bone marrow in your shin, usually used in trauma patients who are unconscious and can’t start an iv on for whatever reason, usually a last resort before the scalpel comes out and they do what’s called a cutdown

    I won't say lucky to be alive, but I will say being asleep like that you are very vulnerable. I know several people who were yanked out of a sleeper and damaged ligaments and broke bones on the seats as they flew forward. In fact, I know a guy long retired that still limps because of his injury. VERY dangerous situation and I am glad the OP survived!

    Here I'll list more of what I know (myself) happened, and what I've kind of guessed happened based on what the icu doctors and nurses have said; for what I know - not a lot I guess. I remember (what seemed like) a brief moment of consciousness while I was laying on the road. That's when I remember asking what happened. Really no other memory until they stuck me with something in my leg that hurt ridiculously. Then just a very disturbing "dream" which I'm sure was the helicopter ride from near blythe to Palm Springs. Then some random quick memories at the icu. Here's a list of injuries as I understand them: broken ribs & collapsed lung, small fracture in lower vertebrae (doctors all assure me it is going to be OK), large laceration to top off head (requiring 20 staples), various road rash... I think that's it. Obviously very sore and bruised. I've talked to company about trying to recover whatever is possible from the truck. They told me to forget about anything in the truck. Upon further asking I was told that the truck is inaccessible due to the damage. As it was described to me the door is now over the front drive axle. Sounds to me like there was very very little braking before impact. Plus the word that I hear everytime I see a new doctor is that I was ejected at 70mph.

    Like was stated, first and foremost, be thankful to God. He is sovereign and makes all decisions. Second, be ready by the grace of Jesus Christ to meet Him. Someday we all will. “The offer still stands.” John 3:16.

    Also, you were ejected, traumatized and confused. It would be difficult to put much faith in what you heard someone say. As well, what he might have said after being in such an accident. As a matter of fact, you could have been the one driving. But, the ELD and camera should prove that.

    Hopefully the driver will be vindicated, but the truck was not in control.

    Speeding and tailgating…. better to drive to be the 89th vehicle in an 88 vehicle pileup.
