Buy a pump and pump some of the liquid from the rear to the front.

Two minutes is not near enough time to let it settle, depending on how fast he pulled on scale and how hard he brakes that stuff could surge for a long time, especially if there’s a lot of headroom. We used to haul caustic sodas that were 10-11 lbs a gallon in smooth bore 7000 gallon tanks and that stuff might rock n roll for 20 minutes with 4400 gallons in the hole. I’m with the rest, I pulled smooth boots general chemical, acid, and ISO tanks OTR and never had a problem with axle weights so long as I was under gross

Had to drop the tank on the scale at Croda in Elizabeth, NJ; a very old waterfront tank storage terminal. The scale was as old as the facility and the whole unit would not fit. Tare on the way in wasn't that bad, crank 'em down and pull the pin leavingh the gladhands attached, when the scaleman waved and hook it back up.

Dropping the load for the gross, despite trying to not shake it, and we would come in the scale house, grab a seat, a coffee and the copies of the daily news as we watched the scale needle [non digital] bop up and down and up and down.....

Free coffee and time to drink it.

LTL Bull, 50% caustic is over 13 lb/gal. We did Titianium Dioxide pigment slurry at 22.5 lb/gal. using an old 5000 gal latex 'tight fill' loaded with 2350 gal and in traffic you thought you were hauling that big boulder from the first Indiana Jones movie back there.

Thats pretty standard policy tbh. I've only ever gotten one ticket for that and it was VA. Company paid it without question.

I ran for Dana/Suttles right about the time Dana brought Suttles out. That slurry is thick isn’t it, like a heavy cream? It’s been a few minutes since I’ve hauled the caustic I think we were closer to a 40% solution. The dedicated acid tanks were better. They were mostly 5000 gallon range. Hauled out of Atofina in brownstown, mi. Loved those dedicated acid tanks, no screwing around with washouts just turn around and head right back to the shipper.

I run like that all the time. We even have a blanket overweight permit just for that. As long as you are 80K gross weight you’re good to go.

Overweights are just pay the money and roll, no points, no nothing, unless you are like 20,000+ over gross then some states (Ct) will get you for wreckless driving

if I was being paid by the pound I might even go put more on…..

As a reference point. And depending on the weight per gallon of whatever you haul.

With full tanks of fuel and a standard 5 axle setup.

78k might be your max. Depending on product weight per gallon. 5000 gallons. Give or take.

Your rear ends weigh more then the trailers. They'll hit 34k before the trailer.

    IIRC our trailers were 32k.

Don't expect to be a pro on the first load. It takes time to figure out the science in hauling liquid. Specially on a single bore.

Remember. For every pound you load up. Half goes on the front and half on the rear. You can't control weight distribution with liquid.

Fix your steer weight to the drives.

Some states will make you sit and stabilize. Florida and California did that to us. Some states don't like heavy steers. Oregon is one.

    Everyone has different experiences.
    That was ours.
