No, your listening to your evening customers, what about the ones like my husband, that will fuel and eat in the morning??? You gonna kick them to the curb and loose the business? Just thinking like a business person makes you wonder about how many guys will move on and buy their fuel and their smokes and eats somewhere else, because of your stupid rule.

Yeah, you were rude. You don't come on a trucking board and start yiping about all your beefs with that kind of an attitude and expect not to get it right back, come on, thats why you said you wouldn't be back in the first place.

Well, right there is your problem. Your parking is not adequate, so your going to ding the driver. Now that makes a whole lot of sense. :biggrin_25521:

As a business person, you might want to think about the potential revenue you are driving away with your parking rules.

And by the way, did your regular customers know that the other drivers that park there didn't buy anything? I mean how in the world do they know that? :biggrin_25526:

I think you should step away from the desk and see what it takes to run a full day and then get to a truckstop and sleep and then have someone knock on your door asking you to pay said amount to park there then having to leave after wards.

In Summner Washington there is a small truck stop, very small, it has fuel pumps and about 10 to 15 parking spaces, i parked there the first time and nothing was said, i went there a second time and even bought a 3 ring binder for log sheets, about 2 am this guy comes out and beats on the door of the truck and says wheres your receipt? After i woke up and was ready to kill the guy i asked what receipt? he stated the receipt for parking here, i told him i bought a log book binder and he said no good its ten dollars for 10 hours, i then told him to go away before he pissed me off and i came out with a club, he says fine he call the cops, fine i left and i never went back there and i havent bought anything since from them, its places like that, that run drivers off and lose money, so keep up and your job will be gone and so will the truck stop.

Well I have to agree with him about the fuel island I cant tell you how many times Ive pulled into a truckstop to get fuel and couldnt because the fuel pumps are blocked with trucks that arent fueling up.To me thats total disrespect for fellow drivers there in there taking showers, eating, etc. All I want to do is get fuel and get on down the road

i've seen a few of you drivers say yes, these are problems.that tells me you care about your job and the industry.:biggrin_25525:
seems like the rest are the type deskjockey talks about.how many of you do these things?
there are very few decent drivers left.most are the type that think, you shall bend over backwards for me all the time because i am a trucker.:biggrin_25514:
in my opinion the trucker image today will not change untill respect is shown to your fellow drivers.that would be a good starting point wouldn't it?
maybe it would have a trickle down effect, the trucking industry could get it's reputation back.

buzz, there is a great deal of truth to what you have posted here. The fact is that you cannot "legislate" good manners. People are either taught good manners as a child or they are not. And if not, they either acquire them along the way, or they don't.

Now I am not trying to excuse the actions or manners of rude truckers, but perhaps I can explain it a bit so you have a better understanding of where some of these dolts come from. As I said, this is NOT TO EXCUSE the behavior.

First off, truckers are quite often treated like dirt. From their company, from their customers, from the law, and from the public in general. Everyone seems to look down their noses at truckers. Sure they NEED us. They just don't want to have to DEAL with us.

The dock people at the shipper and consignee, NEED our services to do their job. But so many of them seem to hate their jobs and they often take it out on the driver. The general public NEEDS to have trucks to bring in the goods. But they don't want to have to deal with big, slow trucks on the road, and they certainly don't want to see a big truck in THEIR neighborhood. Way too many times, law enforcement has the "them" or "us" mentality. And believe me trucker drivers are right at the top of the list of "THEM!" The company NEEDS the drivers to drive the trucks so they can make money. But hell, drivers are "a dime a dozen, get a boxcar load free," as far as a lot of companies are concerned.

So, the trucker gets to a truck stop. And for a change, HE is THE CUSTOMER. Unfortunately, a lot of drivers take out their frustration on someone that is "safe to their career," ie the poor schmuck that works the truck stop. Is it right? Of course not. Is it going to change? Probably not in our life time, although it would be nice if it did.

And then you have the polite "normal" truck driver, that is given poor service, or ripped off. Now even they are going to get upset, and they certainly have a right too.

You folks who work the truck stops, take a minute and think about how you have felt when going through a checkout line, (anywhere) and being treated rudely by the cashier. How does it make YOU feel?

And lets face it. ALL of us have "bad days" now and then. Doesn't mean we should take it out on other people, but it is sort of human nature.

    BLOCKING FUEL PUMPS

Now this is a "hot button" for the majority of drivers. But the fact is, that there will always be some drivers who are either so self centered, or dumb, that they will do it. These are the folks who will always put their desires before the NEEDS of other folks. They will make all kinds of excuses, and might even try to become violent if challenged. AFTER ALL, WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO????? Short of having a dire emergency, there is just no reasonable reason to block the fuel island. Other than selfishness.
