In Texas a license plate frame that obscures the name of the state will get you pulled over. Law gives them probable cause as I found out back in Sept. when a buddy & I took a road trip to pick up a lift gate. BTW, Tx. DPS followed us about a mile, our tailgate was down, load clearly secured with straps ,PLATE was very hard to see at all but this was officers' stated reason for stop.

Those V12 Mercedes are heavy. You really need to get on the gas to get them going but after that, watch out! Nice car.

i'm talking about the "yearly" tag (plate) fee's, not any "inspection" stickers.

for instance, in my state, car plates are paid bi-yearly ( every 2 years) to keep them, like (about) $20.00

you mail in $20.00 and the DMV sends you these "postage stamp sized" stickers that you apply to the plates, so that if you ever get pulled over by the copper's, they can see that your vehicle is "registered" to be on the road. then of course they ask you for your registration which is a piece of paper stamped by the DMV that you did indeed pay the fee's.

because.............some "un-savory" people can (and do) cut the paltes to steal those stickers, and apply them to their own plates.......

you need both as proof of registration. the paper, and the stickers.......

now, NY may have a dofferent system...... as you say......

but still, the paltes you have in the photo are fake, because ALL states have raised letters and numbers on the plates...yours are flat....like a "novelty" item at the "joke store"................

In NY,NJ, there are a lot of cars with custom plates. All You gotta do is visit dmv website ,check if that plate is not taken.Guess what My plate
'6.....z' is taken. Why its flat and looks fake ,no idea.I think $40 extra for custom plate is not enough to make them look real.

yeah, but, even the "ordinary plates" have raised letters/numbers. it shouldn't cost any more extra money for "ordinary plates" to have rasied letters/numbers. i can see the extra expense in getting what we call "vanity plates", you know, a name, special number, etc.

maybe New York's special license plate manufacturing plant at the local prison ran low on "raised letters/numbers" when the ex-con jumped the wall and became a truck driver..............and the next con didn't know how to operate the machine....???

    uh ha..........i knew it..............

"prisoner number 12039378 bnijuy3478" is now a JB Hunt driver, since it seems "allowable" to let ex-cons/felons drive trucks nowadays.......

Customer came by yesterday who has had vanity plates for years on several different cars. None of his vanty plates are stamped. Checked my own vehicles (no vanity plates),my newest trailer tags are not stamped. also in Tx. only motorcycles & trailers have reg. stickers on plate, all others have sticker on windshield to cut down thefts. Newest ones have plate number & part of VIN printed on w/s sticker.
