Stay tuned. I had to get into Sprimo again today for a quick APU fix. They are ordering more and more of the lightweight International trucks as well as some lightweight Freighliners. Those are both "stand up" style and offer much more in the way of storage. Was able to go inside the International last night while one was in the shop next to my truck. Actually, they are nice! Still not a full condo, but definately livable.

Going through orientation at Prime and met with my trainer today. It's not going to work for me as he said we only get one shower a week! I can't roll with that, no-way, no-how.
I want to hit the road. How can I find a trainer that I will mesh with without having to go through a bunch of BS? Someone based in Atlanta would be nice also but, that isn't the priority. I just want a trainer that has some standards of fitness and cleanliness.
I'd appreciate some advice.Last edited: Apr 5, 2010

I know some people look down on that tactic, but mostly its directed at students looking to jump ahead of other students that have been waiting longer for an instructor... in this case, I knew a few students who found instructors only to have training management nix the idea and place a longer waiting student with the "found" instructor.
If you got a problem with the trainer, let someone know... tell them its not going to work out... make sure you tell them why.
If your holding out for someone specifically from Atlanta, or even GA, I would drop that requirement.Slightlystoopid Thanks this. -
Thanks U2. I'm not holing out for someone from GA. This guy is my first trainer assignment and I want to get off to a good start. I'm a reasonable person but, I can't for the life of me see why someone would choose to only bathe once a week. I'm a little more health conscious than that. Dang, although I think it's kinda gross, I don't so much have a problem with him not caring to bathe more frequently as I do with him telling me that "YOU" (I) will only shower once a week! What interest does he have in hindering or preventing me from seizing more frequent opportunities to bathe if and when they are available? I'm not a fan of spending days covered in dried sweat!
I don't want to step on any toes or come across as difficult; I'm not looking for special treatment at all. I do consider the bathing factor one of the most basic of needs, at least every couple of days, depending on the heat and my level of physical activity. I don't plan on allowing myself to turn into a ogre while on the road. Fitness is important to me.
I hope to have a new trainer assignment soon. Thanks again for your input man. -
When I went through orientation just over a year ago, we were told both verbally and in writing that we were guaranteed a shower at least every 48hrs. One shower per week is a bit ridiculous. If he's only willing to take a shower once per week, that makes me wonder what some of his other habits are. 2 guys in the same truck after 6 days unshowered? Ugh. I can only imagine what that would smell like.
I can't blame you for passing up that trainer. I hope you're able to find another one quickly.Slightlystoopid Thanks this. -
When I'm training I aim for one shower every 2 days. Sometimes when you get a really tight coast to coast run, it may have to be stretched out, but my main priority is that I don't stink going into a customer.

That trainer is one of the reasons that drivers have such a bad image. Can u imagine standing behind him in a restaurant or truck stop and smelling his week old sweat and stench
That guy should turn the trainer in and they should fire him, thats really uncalled for. Maybe he is just trying to give the impressio that he works hard. If u can fuel and eat, then ya can shower, right or wrong?
DirtySideDown Thanks this. -
You guys are falling down on the job. Priime used to have really nice showers in their main building. The only company I have ever seen that actually some that were not only usable but nice. As much as I like to knock them that trainer was either pulling your leg or an odball.
