Our flatbeds usually haul lumber or plywood. Once in awhile we'll do machinery...crane booms, counterweights, yarder towers etc... but only for people we already deal with.
The trailers are 45' Reliance and we bought them new in '95. Yeah, they're old but they've held up well. They're starting to get kind of brittle but they still do a good job.
Average load, if we're crossing scales, is 50,000. With the right tractor we can legal 52. If we're just bopping around local and not crossing scales we usually don't weigh.

There’s a Reliance and a couple of old Lufkin trailers near by that are still being used, I wouldn’t say in service. They’ve got dolly converters under them and they’re now the bunk carts the material handlers tow around the log yard at the mill. I don’t even know where they got those Lufkins from, they weren’t a very common trailer up here.

Depends on the trailer. The trains are 5 axle, 3 axle 26’ deck on the front , 32’ tandem in the back, and we put 96,000lbs on them. A 12’ spread 48’ or 53’ tridem will take 75,000lbs and 55,000lbs on a tandem. We have to lighten that up by a few thousand kg’s to go west though. They don’t want us flattening the prairie out any more than it already is or something.
