Sorry. I notice you said this is your first range selector so you probably don’t know 13 or 18’s.

Down shifting is the same. 5 low, push the switch forward and then Immediately make the down shift now you are in 4 high. After a while it will seem like one fluid motion.
Val_Caldera and jldilley Thank this. -
They are actually great transmissions for pulling tanks. With the lower number of actual stick moves it helps keep surge to a minimum.

I was indifferent to it. I split my week between a regular 10 and a super 10. Half the time I'd have to look to tell ya what one I was using, muscle memory just takes over and you go. Some guys refused to drive them because they couldn't get their heads around a different shift pattern.
All in all just a another transmission. Worked fine.Last edited: Jul 15, 2022

My boy has one in his Columbia. It has the setup where it will bump between 9&10 automatically when on the cruise. The top was wore out and it was like shifting to different zip codes, but it was alright as it REALLY demanded his attention his first few months. They replaced the top bearing and it tightened the pattern right up and he’s happy with it now. Not much different than driving the top end of a thirteen speed

A lot of people disconnect the top two auto shift and turned the Super 10 back into a 10 speed.
I drove a FLD that was that way.RockinChair and Val_Caldera Thank this. -
