I'm wondering if anyone can help, my former employer claims I owe them $217 for per diem deductions when I worked for them and has sent it to a collections agency. I tried calling and speaking to someone and they basically told me to kick rocks and to contact the collections agency. She did admit that this was from an error on their part in payroll but that it dosen't matter it has to do with the irs. I'm wondering if I should just pay it or if this is worth trying to fight cause it seems to me they are just trying to strong arm me knowing that it would cost more to fight then to just pay. Has anyone else delta with something like this?
Need help per diem deductions sent to collections

Pay it. A collection on your credit report will cost you for 7 years.
Chieftains Thanks this. -
I'd opt to contest it with the credit companies. Decent chance, once investigated, it gets dropped out of your report. There a 3 major credit reporting companies, so you'd need to do this with all 3. If, per chance, they come back with it is a legit dept, then pay. Just because someone says you owe them money and they report it to a credit bureau doesn't mean you do. That's my take on it anyway.
And, it doesn't cost anything to contest a debt with a credit reporting company and most situations, it's not too complicated to contest it. Worth the little bit of effort! -
Yea im disputing it with the credit companies the hit on my credit is there no matter what if I pay it or not. If I pay it then it will only go up a bit not what it was.
