Dad said he had a .22/410 just as your dad did. Said he regrets ever trading it off, hindsight is 20/20…? Loljamespmack, cke, singlescrewshaker and 6 others Thank this. -

That gives a bad gut feeling.
When Uncle Sam called dad in the Army, he had multiple old guns at the homeplace. When he returned from Germany he found his guns gone along with other belongings.
Years later his little .22 with the octagon barrel showed up in Oregon.
Come to find out other members of the family who were “married in to” the family had taken dads belongings and sold them. Fortunately our cousin bought the .22 without knowing where it came from.
All those years later it came up in conversation, and uncle buddy upon finding out it was dads gun, he gave it to dad. It made dad happy to get it back.
Dad was taught by Poppy my great grandfather of how to hunt and run trap line. Dad said a boxcar couldn’t hold the squirrels, rabbits, and fox along with whistle pig that he had taken with that little .22 lever action.
That’s Poppy holding the banjo, notice the gun above the door? It’s still in the family, but unfortunately it’s only looked at as $$ at some point with no heirloom thoughts about it….jamespmack, cke, singlescrewshaker and 12 others Thank this. -
I’ve got a Stevens .22/.410 that was my grandmothers. I wouldn’t want to guess how many groundhogs and rabbits that gun eliminated. My grandma was a little obsessed with her vegetable garden.jamespmack, cke, singlescrewshaker and 5 others Thank this.

I sold a Ruger Red Label Stainless 12 gauge last April on Gunbroker, and a Marlin 45-70 guide gun. Neither had sentimental value, so when i saw what they were selling for, i listed em.
The Ruger brought $2900 and $1500 for the Marlin, IIRCjamespmack, D.Tibbitt, cke and 6 others Thank this. -
