THIS IS WHY THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY IS THE WAY IT IS. WE AS DRIVERS NEED TO STAND UP FOR OURSELVES. IF U CAN TELL ME THAT 300 MILES / 3 DROPS / AND 14 HOURS A DAY WARRANTS A $160 PAY DAY YOUR CRAZY. BUT PEOPLE LIKE YOU TAKE THIS AND EAT IT UP AND THEN EXPERIENCED GUYS LIKE MYSELF HAVE TO SETTLE BECAUSE YOU GUYS SET THE BAR THAT LOW.:biggrin_25513: I SPOKE TO NUMEROUS MARTEN DRIVERS THAT ARE OTR THAT WOULD NEVER DO INTERMODAL FOR THIS KIND OF MONEY. GET REAL!!!! AAAHHH. I FORGOT AND ITS "LOCAL" BUT YOU HAVE TO STAY OUT 3 OR MORE DAY A WEEK EVEN IF U ARE 30 MILES FROM YOUR HOME.:biggrin_25521:

$160/day times a, oh lets be nice and call it a 5 day work week, comes out to what, $800/week? Hey, if you can't live on that, I'll be more than happy to take your job. And I wouldn't be living like the Flintstones, either.

Congrats to both LooneyTunes and Kabar for tripping into the roses with Marten. Keep safe and stay warm, drivers.

NOW LETS TRY THIS AGAIN!!!!!! ITS NOT 800 A WEEK. AFTER TAXES INSURANCE ETC ITS BRING HOME 550. NOW IF U THINK 550 A WEEK FOR 70 HOURS OR MORE A WEEK IS GOOD ESPECIALLY BEING A LOCAL DRIVER MORE POWER TO U.:biggrin_2559: THAT 160 ISNT A 8 HOUR DAY BUDDY. ITS A 14 HOUR DAY. ANYWAY IM LEAVING JUST WARNING DRIVERS IF THEY ASK YOU U SWITCH OVER TO LOCAL SAY NO.

Awww, you can't live on $550 a week? I'm presuming this is net pay, yes? Which gives you approximately $2200/month, yes? And you can't live on that? When I'm running a house with 2 people on $650/mo. + food stamps, with no health care or heating assistance? Be thankful you at least have a job. Like I said, you don't want it, I'll be more than happy to replace you behind the wheel.

Again, you didn't read or maybe understand my message. I said you didn't tell the "Reader" about the 2.5 cent fee. or that you only make 35.5 per mile for the short loads and how much? for the long hauls? If you are going to sing the praises of Marten why not be truthful. I'm just saying.....

duddie, I know what you mean. Easier just to drag a guy down than demand some respect from the person writing out the pay check. Not that we expect bounus or $10 an hour raise but being able to stay ahead of inflation and have some quality of life for the extra hours. The fact is the customer still gets no break and consumor spending is going down because we have to. Working class no bailout here.:biggrin_25513: Just grief from both ends.

You know what? I would appreciate not being called dumb or accused of lying. Try .365 for the long loads and more for the short loads. Again I am sorry if you had a bad experience at Marten but if all you're gonna do is show up to basically say "Hey LooneyTune is an idiot and doesn't tell the truth," Then I'd appreciate it if you find another thread. I figured maybe even as an ex Marten driver you might be happy to see someone doing well here. But the fact that you seem to keep rooting against me is a little troubling.

    JustSonny and Dryver Thank this.

I, for one didn't set the bar that low. I've been driving for 15 years now. Does the intermodal thing suck? Yes it does but sometimes it has to be done. If everyone just starts refusing to do stuff then guess what? No customers, no freight, no job

    Dryver and JustSonny Thank this.
