RumRunner I am not aware of any studies about lesbians and push-ups... I would think the amount of push-ups one can do is determined more by their physical fitness and not their sexuality...
One day you too will be older and there will be some young punk who thinks you are finished and need to just step aside.
My father is 76 years old, he retired from his military career, he also retired from his civilian career, but, he is in great health, very active, and is not ready to retire. Last summer, to fight boredom he built a new addition to his home, extended his deck and built a rock retaiing wall, he also mowed his younger neighbors yard while he was in the hospital and has taken care of shoveling the snow for him this winter.
My father just had a full check up and his doctor told him he is as fit as a 40 year old. He still walks at least 3 to 5 miles a day, bowls in four leagues and some tournaments now and again. Just a few weeks ago he bowled another 300 game. He also coaches a little legue football team and referees at basketball games, wrestling and other things. Next week he is going to take his gradchildren skiing.
I know not all men my fathers age are as healthy and active as he is, I also know there are guys in there 30's, 40's, 50's and 60's who are not as healthy, fit and active as he is.
It would be wrong to assume that just because someone is younger than my father that they are in better shape physically, mentally or emotionally.

My 1st year driving, I met a driver who drove for Consolidated Freightways who was 77! He looked like he was in his mid 50's.
We shared a meal and I absolutley loved listening to his stories. He had over 35 years at CF and I asked him about that "awesome" retirement plan and he told me every one of his friends that retired was dead in less than 2 years. He told me he was never gonna retire so he was "never gonna die!"
I respected that man greatly and never did see him again. I hope he is still doing what he wants!
What I was refering to in my earlier post was the tragedy of today's economy that forces people to work past the point where most folks would rather retire. I was not commenting on the driver's age or ability to drive a truck, just the economy and society as a whole! -
Hey RumRunner, if you were "the man in charge," just what age would you mandate that a person no longer be able to be a class A driver? I'm just curious.

I was 45 when I had a heart attack in '01. I was unloading at a customer when it really started coming on and they took me to the ER.
Fortunately I wasn't out on a lonely highway miles from help.
That was almost 9 years ago and I'm still driving. Sorry RumRunner, but I'm out here sharing the road with you and as long as I feel fit I will continue driving.krestiekrew, Working Class Patriot and Double L Thank this. -
You were lucky my friend. My friend's husband was dead before he hit the ground. He never knew what happened.

Wow Mustanggt.... Glad you got to the ER and are doing well.
I think it is important that we all take into consideration our health and that we feel fit to be out here... I don't think it is an age thing, or, that just because you already had a heart attact that you are more likely to have another one than someone who hasn'thad one.
The guy I just finished running with... he was very, very, very out of shape... he would get winded just walking from the back of the truck to the front... he smoked at least two packs of non filtered cigarettes a day, he was very, very over weight and his diet was very unhealthy, he would have a big mac meal as a snack
, he drank gallons of pop a day, he would down one or two energy drinks quickly before we tarped or untarped... and I could not believe what and how much he would eat as a meal... Once, he actually ordered and ate two whole meals...
Now, he has not had a heart attact or anything, his blood pressure is high and he is taking meds for it... But, his eating, smoking and being so over weight makes him highly likely to have one... and he is only in his 40's... -
well i would send everybody over age 65 to carousel for rebirth!!

Most people that "keel over" felt fine 1 hour before. Jim Fixx, the runner/author died while jogging. (at 53). The guy that wiped out 10 people on I-44, Oklahoma turnpike, near Miami a few months back was in his early 70's. Apparently no medical problems, but, no explanation either as to why he didn't slow down. Aren't airline pilots put out to pasture at age 60? Any truck driver knows the DOT physical is a basic breathe, cough, piss, listen, look 5 minute in-n-out good for 2 years farce. We've all heard of someone going to the ER with pains and getting sent home and keeling over 3 hours later.

Do I believe there should be more to the physical? Yes.
Do I believe drivers hould simply be put "out to pasture" at a certain age? NO! -
Would there have been this much discussion regarding age if the driver was in his 40's or 50's? I don't think so. His wisdom and experience told him not to drive and that should be appreciated. I'm not sure if everyone behind the wheel would have done the same.
My condolences to the family of the driver.misterG, LavenderTrucker, Working Class Patriot and 3 others Thank this.
