If you advance your truck towards your next load PC, you are in violation. I don't care if you were using your truck to track Bison in the wilderness when doing it.

But I won't know where my next load is coming from. It could be a weeks time from one load to the other and when I book that next load its going to be near where I am at the time. Not where I was a week ago. Would be hard for DOT to argue that I spent a whole week driving thousands of miles going to random spots with no load booked just to advance my next load..... With ELD's I believe you can make notes on them? Or is that only certain brands of ELD's and not all of them have that feature? I would like to make a road map of the places I am going to visit so if I can do that with the ELD that would make it easier for me.

I'm not real knowledgeable on HOS rules but I think even if you could run PC to your next vacation destination you would have to show a 10 hr break before going back on duty driving if something popped up real quick

Say I PC'd across country, I would still log all the times I slept during the trip. I would either log it as sleeper time or just off-duty and would have a hotel receipt to prove it. Even though my truck is fully loaded, some nights I would want to just get out of it. This stuff would be useful even if you were in a regular car traveling cross country and got into an accident. At least you would be able to clear the sleep negligation.

Pc is the only way to move a cmv when off duty but with limitations.

Good luck explaining things to a DOT officer who puts you out of service hands a you a ticket and tells you to fight it in court.

they love arguing and having the rules explained to them. Specially since interpretation’s of said rules are different from one officer to the next.

All I’m saying is even under pc, you still have to abide by the HOS rules. Because if you don’t and your first year audit comes around, you are definitely going to have to answer for all the pc you have done.

Ok I no longer believe any of this bull crap. No truck driver makes enough money to go "weeks" between loads burning 5.50 a gallon diesel to drive all over Gods creation in the meantime.

Do what the hell you want. I think you're full of it, anyway.

Just log anything not work related on line 1. You're off duty.

Just because we're having fun, the racing events. You will find that if you compete in a race with prizes with any kind of monetary value, at all, those prizes will turn those trips into "commercial" trips in the eyes of the DOT.

They love to bust rodeo competitors on that. Good for lots of tickets. Because it's all about safety, you know?

Wonder if you can license it as an RV with a second plate and use it when you need to?

Run as you like. Most likely, you will never be caught. Just think, there are two kinds of people in the world, "caught" and "uncaught". Those poor ######## in prison just got caught, we who are still running around free, we just ain't been caught. So, enjoy your journeys!!! Quit worrying about if and when you might get caught. And if you do ever get "caught", the odds are still in your favor.
