Thank you for the last part of your post. I was just about to ask where the tcm is but I didn’t want to look stupid.

I’m wondering if mine is a little different. My truck just shuts off in the middle of me driving. I have to wait 45 minutes to a couple of hours for it to restart. When it won’t start, the lights on gear shifter display won’t come on but as soon as I turn it on and I see ALLISON on the display the I know it will start. Any ideas?

I have same problem, but replaced the tcm, still nothing...tcm and ecm is good...but still says no communication...could it be the BCM?

There are times when the body becomes corrupted and can be transmitting gibberish on the datalink to cause communication faults. This can be corrected by disconnecting main battery power for 1 minute and then reconnect, retest. If this doesn't work, you need to test the wiring.

I replaced the bcm, it made no difference with my issue....my next question is...can a tcm be bench programmed or does it have to be hooked up in the truck to be programmed..I ask because I have an extra tcm, but it came out of another truck...and I am trying to get out of having the truck towed to a shop...I am having doubts now about the tcm I put in last week...

There may be a chance the new tcm you got is not programmed or not programmed proper. Most Allison dealers will be able to bench program it. If you have your old TCM, there is sticker on the back of it with the programming configuration information they will need. If your replacement TCM has no sticker on it, good changes it was never programmed at all.
