So far it's good. We pressured up to about 8-10 pounds and it was leaking. Just hoping the head gasket is good but with the rad leaking it's pretty hard to test any further
Overheated and now coolant issues

I think I had a really small leak in the rad before this happened. Every once in awhile I'd pull away from a stop sign or on a weigh scale and when my fan would kick in in would look like a bit of mist. But i wasn't adding much antifreeze daily so I thought maybe it was dust because I do drive on some gravel roads.
So I'm wondering if it did have a tiny crack already and the pressure just did it in.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
One of the plastic ones. I found a replacement rad from Star Cooling in Edmonton that are made in Canada for 1200 CAD. Metal rad instead of plasticCattleman84, AModelCat and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I’ve had an oil cooler fail once, we tested it with air. Found a pin hole in a spot that had a small dimple already. A weak spot. Later I realized the head gasket was leaking, it only got worse, and eventually blew, hydro locking the engine. Dropped liner. Time for an inframe. A good argument for pressure testing. High pressure will find the weakest point. Sounds like you’re good to go, no pressure building. Beats guessing and hoping. Lol.

Lol yeah it definitely pressure tested itself. Fingers crossed that the rad was the weakest point and saved from further damage.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Just an old bushmans mechanical tactic when your out in the middle of no where with very few options till you get to a workshop this worked fine on the traditional radiator caps was to unscrew the cap which reduced pressure build up and thus reducing the amount of water leaking it helped a driver at least make it back to the work shop.Rideandrepair and skman Thank this.
