I couldn't help but notice that the cities you made reference too are all south of the Mason Dixon line
The demographic you were referring too also live north of that line too like NYC Cleveland. Detroit. & Chicago ..etc etc etc..or is that a different demographic of the demographic you were referring about...
The Demographic you should worry the most about is the demographic that lives in Washington DC.. and like the color blue... to quote your words... Just watch the news..

I started carrying when was a parcel driver at Amazon delivering to bad neighborhoods at night.

Turns out it's the white middle aged guys in pickups who don't know how to #### their wives are the ones you gotta look out for, all the meth heads and weirdos in alleyways were nice and just wanted someone to talk to lol.

Anyway, I keep one in my truck, I take it with me walking out to the bathroom etc depending on what state I'm in, usually carrying it in my purse. It's no biggie just don't be foolish with it and you'll be fine. What's saved me most is not my gun but having situational awareness. Pay attention to what's going on around you, know where your exits are, avoid crowds, if something feels off or looks sketch, it probably is, so avoid it or get out of there. Your gun is there as a last resort if you get cornered, don't get yourself cornered in the first place and you'll probably never need it.

It's a mistake to look at total numbers when speaking about California's population. To see the issue you must look deeper into the numbers. YES, California according to the US census did have a net gain of about 6% in 2020 over 2010. This gain is by percentage less than the increase in 2010 over 2000. However, the percentage of whites actually is almost 25% down statewide. This does validate the fact that people and businesses are leaving. This can also be confirmed by looking at states like Colorado and Texas that are gaining. This also means the population diversity of California is changing. Is this a good thing? Or is it a bad thing? I will allow people more intelligent than I am to decide. I do, however, wonder where these people are coming from that caused this 6% increase!

As to crime. Let's look at Chicago. The Chicago Bears are leaving Chicago. They are moving out into a bedroom community near Chicago. The Atlanta Braves just recently left downtown Atlanta. Major businesses are leaving Chicago soon.

I was attacked about 2 years ago while walking near my home. While Hampton Virginia is not a large city we are experiencing a major increase in property crime. Today when I leave my home I am armed unless I am going to the VA or going on a military base.

There is also a MAJOR difference between urban and rural areas when it comes to crime. I don't care if podunk is in California or in Alabama, podunk is a small town that is not crime infested. All of the large urban areas in the US are going through a major increase in crime. Most of the said crime is also violent. When it comes to truckers there is something going on that is not finding its way to the newspapers. I can't link to this because it is hearsay but I trust the people that are telling me these things. Safety critters and HR types I have been speaking to over the years are complaining more and more about the safety of their drivers. Not long ago a driver for a large MEGA was attacked while walking from where he was unloading to a store to get some food. He was badly beaten, robbed, and left for dead. This happened near Baltimore. I know of another driver that was in fact killed in Dallas.

California's problems go far beyond crime. In all honesty, I would not walk alone EVEN armed in any large urban area in the US today.

The company I trained with had a no carry rule officially. Unoffically they told you that you have the right to defend yourself. Then came the questions... "what about this, what about that?" And they repeated that statement... "you have the right to defend yourself."

The take away... you can carry and they will look the other way. But if you use it, they aren't going to back you. That's all on you.

Biggest issue really is if you ever had to use your gun and you were in a state like California or New York and you aren’t licensed to conceal carry. You best believe that the DA will come after you with everything they have, even though in California they’re pretty much turning a blind eye to actual criminals. Not to mention the civil liabilities that will inevitably follow. When I lived in California I had to pay extra insurance to cover instances where an intruder might get injured on my property while breaking in, and sue me cause my carpet tripped him or some crap like that.

I want to point out something about what @Bobblehead just said. If you ever are in a situation where you use a firearm EVEN though you have not violated any laws, what happens next almost always rests with the local DA. A "progressive" gun control type DA will most likely come after you. If the case goes to court just remember. That DA was elected by the voters in that area. Guess who makes up the jury pool? YEP! Those same voters. Before you make a reply read this article. LINK!

No I totally get that. Should’ve said in California, New York, etc would be a lot worse then say Tennessee, Utah, etc or something. And yes of course at the end of the day it’s better to be judged by 12 then carried by six. I’d just rather not risk in certain states. Especially if not licensed in the state.

That was not directed to you. Had it been I would have quoted what you said. I just mentioned you because I was adding to what you said.
