    I don't know. Don't know about flatbed pet policy either. You'll have to call and ask about that.

    Not at all.

    A lot of companies started off requiring 2 years of OTR experience. Due to these beginnings, one would naturally have been 23 years of age by the time they attained that experience. Over the years, they may have lowered the experience requirement but never changed the age minimum with their insurer (this would result in substantial rate hikes), therefore you will see 23 years of age listed at many places.

    Ours is listed as such, but exceptions are made for certain positions... one in particular being a spotter truck driver. We even hired an 18-year old last year to drive a spotter truck until she has enough age/experience to go on the road locally (intrastate), followed by regional/OTR driving at 21. In this case we would be able to obtain an exception from the insurer, as they would have already been insuring her or nearly 3 years at that point.

    i wish swift didnt carry such a stigma. ive noticed ALOT of swift trailers EVERYWHERE. I figure that statistically, their "bonehead" rate isnt any worse than the industry, its just that theres so many out there to have mishaps.

    I'm pretty sure if you looked at their incident rate % it wouldn't be worse than most and better than a lot. If they offer what you need then go for it.

    Precisely. A few numbers of note:

    15,907 power units
    11455 vehicle inspections in last 24 months
    16.6% vehicle OOS rate (average is 21.6%)
    19545 driver inspections in last 24 months
    1.3% driver OOS rate (average is 6.2%

    1100 recordable crashes in roughly 3 BILLION miles. That's just over 1 crash per 3 million operating miles (1 per 2,727,272 miles). Not many places can say that.

    @snicrep --

    This is FAN-TAS-TIC news!!! :D :hello1: :headbang: :iconbiggrin:

    Do keep us posted on how things go there....

    especially since Bryan is part of Texas A&M.

    Should prove to be a very interesting experience--AND pretty much recession-proof work, too. :thumbup:

    Just learn as much as you can while you're there.
