although ever dashcam I’ve ever owned , has been a gigantic pain in the butt to download the video to a smartphone
most requires a laptop to see the video
Which defeats the purpose of having it , since you can’t show it to the cops writing the report and tickets .
“Vortex radar “ on YouTube has a good reviews of a lot of dash camsFlat Earth Trucker, Rideandrepair, Another Canadian driver and 1 other person Thank this. -
I run a Transcend Drive Pro. I can download wirelessly to my phone or laptop. I get good quality video, day or night. I just can't figure out how to upload a one minute video to sites like this. Always says file is too large.

Actually, it would probably be easier and higher quality to just upload to YouTube and post a link.Flat Earth Trucker, Rideandrepair, Sirscrapntruckalot and 2 others Thank this. -
I have had the same Garmin dash cam for 8-9 years now. Aside from having to remember to reset the memory card once a week so it doesn’t freeze from being full it’s a good device i’d say - it does the job.

I just have a Rexing. Seems to work just fine. It is a pain to have to eject the microSD card and insert it in my laptop to have access to the video it records. But, unless you pay alot more, they all seem to have that limitation. To get one that has easier access to the video and multiple cameras, like for the 2 side views, you have to spend alot more, like around $500, compared to around $100. The more expensive ones are more geared toward fleet management than simple driver use. But, they also have the ability to download video off of them much easier. I hope to one day get one of these systems. I'd like to have 2 side cameras besides the front facing one and also have easier access to the video. But, the cost is such that I haven't been able to fit it in my budget. In the mean time, my Rexing works just fine for what it is and provides. I've been lucky that I haven't been in a situation where I needed to show DOT folks video to clarify a situation. But, having and using it does give me alot more piece of mind than not having it.

And if you get involved in an accident , when the cops show up , and you and the other driver meet with the officer , just hand over your DL and say to the cop loud Enough so the other driver that caused the accident can hear you “ you can take to them first , I will go download the video from my dashcam so you can see what happened “

It’s pretty bad when so called security at the front gate decides to create trouble. Accuse me of cutting in line. Being unsafe. All kinds of BS. Flat out try to ban me from delivering. When I’ve got three dash cams. One belongs to the company. Two record onto clouds. Idiots were too stupid to look for dash cam before starting trouble.
Shipper agreed to get a new exporter on the west coast.ColoradoLinehaul, Rideandrepair, DrBigRig and 2 others Thank this.
