Here is my experience with Schneider as a zero experience driver

It sounds like you must have been doing something unsafe if the trainer felt the need to scream at you in the middle of an intersection.

CDL must be from the state you reside in. I’m not surprised they had an issue with this.

The thing is, the mega carriers are setup to handle new drivers and have the supports in place (you might say micro-management) to help you be successful in your first year. They aren’t going to expect you to start out driving 11 hours every day and they respect your decision to stop the truck for any reason you feel unsafe. Smaller carriers usually aren’t like that. More importantly, you don’t have the experience to know when to say no or realize you’re being taken advantage of, and I read of that happening often with new drivers at small, often shady, companies.

 

Give the guy a break ... Its just the beginning... He is sure he saw the worst of trucking !

 

Welp, you get whatchu pay for I suppose, I'm glad I went to a CDL school instead of one of these companies. It's a different incentive structure and power dynamic if you're the customer vs. someone who dug their own grave signing a contract they are desperate to fulfill.

You've come this far and survived all this nonsense you might as well stick it out at this point and just deal with this guy and try to be polite, even if he's being a dick because you're just gonna make it worse by doubling the negative energy of the situation. Do the turn how he wants you to do it, don't argue, fight or ##### about it, you know he's gonna yell at you just mentally prepare for it and try to ignore it.

And keep in mind that you aren't the only one who's struggling with the heat and getting frustrated, emotions run hot when the temperature runs hot, be the grown up who's aware of it, take control and try to have a positive attitude and don't complain because that isn't getting you anywhere and all you have to do right now is focus on surviving and getting through it. If you can do that you might make it as a trucker, because this is not gonna be the last time you'll have to deal with unreasonable people who have power over you and you have be able to shrug it off and move onto the next thing.

I did a 20 minute pre-trip everyday when I was on the road. Just because a few drivers don't do it doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. I have done pretrips in rain, snow, ice, heat in south Texas in middle of July with the sun beating down on me just across the Mexican border.

I said it has to be done because for your cdl ypu have to do a full pre-trip and if you say one thing wrong or point to one wrong part you will fail.
