Its 2019 579. The cb was treble. Changing antennas did not help also comes from the factory with two antennas with the coax splice together at the CV hole it's very crude so I installed a bird perch on a driver mirror installed a skip shooter ran the coax through the door of the b-pillar of the windshield I come around to the visor up to the air horn hole and then fished it over to the cb hole by means of the CB speaker hole. By pushing up air horn pull tail with a zip tie to pull it back down after installation of new coax 20220528_140116.jpg 20220528_140137.jpg 20220528_140158.jpg 20220528_140137.jpg 16540885591915370093975416369423.jpg

Leave it as a single antenna. With all the plastic and fiberglass I’m almost certain that you are going to have to RF ground your antenna mount and truck.

In mine the coax was already there with factory prewired for a cobra 29 cb. The antenna was mounted on top of the apu condenser.

This 579 pete came pre wired an with 2 antennas it was junk. Couldn't hear not sure if i could talk. Problem with CAL. To high SWR. Treble. Ran better coax with the skip shooter i also have a cobra( parts everywhere) turn down to 2 or 4 watts run a heater about 120 watts i can hear an talk. As with the pete i do pick up noise from power hook up. These so kind of tracker plugged into it. Got figure a clean power to help with reducing the noise.

I used fish tape to pull new single coax to existing mount on drivers side. Mount is grounded to cab by braided strap from factory. 4 1/2 ft antenna stays just under 13' 6". Tuned well performed well.
You would need a SO239 to mini UHF adaptor or get coax made up with proper connector for factory mount. Also sanded to bare metal where braid attached to cab.

To do the professional OEM installation
    1) remove the curtains and rail
    2) remove the lights from the side storage
    3) remove the side storage
    4) remove the cb speaker
    5) remove the center storage
Now you can see the OEM dual antenna ground wires and mini UHF to PL259
    6) remove plastic cover from antenna box
    7) remove the nuts and pull the antenna box out to disconnect the mini UHF to PL259 dual coax

or you could remove and pull out the antenna box and coax without removing the side and center storage and hook up your new coax and fish it behind the center storage, careful doing it that way because if the inside bracket for the antenna box falls out you’ll have to remove the storage to get to it.
It’s an all day job to remove all the storage and put it back in if you’ve done it before. If first time probably several days at least

Exactly tear out a lot of interior hope you don't break plastic clips. install. Put back together is a all day job. Unfortunately my install i did have all the necessary tools or the time. My install after figured it out was able to do it on a 30 min break. Its not bad looking. I did consult few CB shops which they do not do installs with concerns of interior breaking. Now days everything plastic an clips thanks for sharing i hope your reply helps someone.
