Kansas, the solinoid your talking about is air over electric. It dosen' have any coolant going through it. The 2 lines you're talking about are air lines. I'm not real familar with cummins, but as mentioned above it's probably either your water pump, or it could be a hose clamp loosened up in the cold weather, and just needs to be tightened.

I'm new at posting here, but have been enjoying reading all the posts for awile now.

Hope maybe this helps out a little.

    wheathauler and Kansas Thank this.

I wish I could help more but I don't have much Cummins experience. I'm with mslashbar, I don't think the fan clutch solenoid would have coolant going through it. The air going through the radiator and swirling around the fan can sometimes make a leak look like its coming from a different spot. Maybe you'll get lucky and it'll just be a clamp needs tightened up, that definitely happens in cold weather

So you're seeing a leak on the passenger side of the block - right behind the alternator? Any chance you can post a picture of it? I have an '05 ISX in my truck sitting out in the driveway, but I haven't had to work on it as yet. Schematics would be a great find, I'm still picking and poking around under my hood over here - hope I don't need one before I find it.

Dairyman- I know farmers in IA are hauling in corn
to prevent corn going out of condition as they put
corn in bins at higher moisture than normal. They will
deliver on contracts early and pay a storage fee or
some kind of dockage. I have
heard of frozen corn in bins and will not run out.
Some grain merchants are offering NPE No Price Establised
meaning you can deliver and not pay any storage and
    sale when you want.

I have wanted to core my bins but we have had one
storm after another. I am not driving on icy roads.
I have some contracted for Feb.

    dairyman Thanks this.

If it's leaking coolant, it's definitely not the clutch. The only lines that run into that solenoid are air lines. If it's coming from behind the fan, it's be one of the main coolant lines, the heater hoses, the gasket for the pump itself, the main bearing of the pump, or I think there's a kind of weep hole that starts leaking when the pump starts to go bad.

Best to get a radiator pressure tester if you don't already have one and pressurize the system with the engine off to figure out exactly where it's coming from.

Well, another cloudy foggy day. This has to be the foggest winter in a long time for us. 32 out so at least it isn't freezing fog.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. Still not sure what that thing is, but I will try and give a better description and location.

Its definitely a solenoid of some sort, looks "sort of" like a starter solenoid you would find on a ford pickup. That solenoid sits on top of a small (lack of better term) manifold. Like I said before a total of 5 wires going through it, and its fairly small in size. Not much bigger than a pack of playing cards. There are two hard lines going through it, I guess maybe they are air lines, and that line is what feeds to the fan clutch itself??? The lines are no bigger than those that would feed an injection pump or injectors. The water pump sits just about directly below it, on the passenger side of the block.

HwyPilot, Ill take a pic of it tomorrow and post it. I feel totally lost on this truck, and YEAH schematics would help a lot LOL.

Dot pulled me over again today. UGHHHH second time in 6 days. No tickets thank goodness...

Second time in 6 days? Are ya kiddin' me? Where are you, and whaddya think that's about?

If I've got a picture of that leak, I might be able to call around and get some help about it (and look at my own out here for some guidance).
