A center of tread small puncture (meaning no casing damage) can be properly fixed and run out without issue.

Small package was good with the patch that has the part that fills the hole in the tire that the nail made thru tread so dirt can't get driven into the hole but putting a plug in a steering tire makes it a trailer or drive tire from then on!

I’ve found that a lot of companies will “mess around” and play technicalities with the rear axle tires and trailer tires but they don’t mess around with steer tires. Any defect, injury, or sign that there might be an issue and they just throw them out and replace them. It’s not worth trying to save a few hundred bucks in my opinion.

Sure can, patch it and rotate it back to the trailer and put new steers on the truck ….not worth the $1500 screwing around with steers

I’m sure almost anything can be done and then some
    Me personally?
My entire truck depends more on my steers than any other tire and I would t chance it
There are a few things I won’t cut corners on. Steers and brakes
I can shave a buck or two in other areas if I need to
But I see a ton of way more sketchy stuff running around but maybe those are the horror stories we read about every day when things go bad??

I’m all for safety and also only run my steers for 1 year. A front tire blow out could cost a lot of money, or injury.

That said I’ve never had a patch fail and I assume if it does it would be an air leak and not a total blowout. I would probably get a new tire but I wouldn’t feel bad if I had to run it for a bit.

I ended up getting a shop to do it the right way with a plug and patch. They say they do it all the time and they’re a pretty decent size company in ND.
