Well since someone else already revived this ancient thread …

last year sometime , the Georgia DOT flipped the sign to “all trucks enter weigh station “ at the one on Lavonia on 85 north . Stood on the platform with a breathalyzer , and busted nearly 10% of the drivers coming through for DUI

not sure I can find the news article but I remember seeing it .

Not trying to morph the subject, but a lot of drivers either have not been trained on or don't consider 382.307 382.501 and how it invokes 382.503 and in this reg, we see Subpart O has to be satisfied before a driver can return to work. About a year ago a carrier after a series of customer complaints about drunk drivers started breath testing their drivers as they returned to the main warehouse. I was not told how many drivers were caught, but all of the drivers were sent to piss and blow. These positives are just like a random test. Time to call a SAP! In today's world drinking while working is a good way to find yourself flipping burgers at Joe's cafe and cathouse!

I know a guy that drives and has been an alcoholic for over 30 years. He doesn't drink on-duty, but I know that he binges on his resets and probably drinks every day after he parks. Somehow he's never been caught drinking, although he's had a number of accidents and tickets, and still the mega he works for keeps him on because all he does is drive and live in his truck.

I've seen plenty of drivers go into truck stops and buy a pint of booze or a 12 pack, and then see them in the garbage can, or in the parking lot the next day.

I haven't had a drink in over a decade but if it'll get me hired on at Joe's I'll down a 5th of JD in front of the scale house. I hear employee's eat free, and not just the blue plate special.

Ummmm… Definetly Legal in Canada if not Opened. Company policy might be a different story. FFA78D66-1185-40C6-8264-45D9955678F9.jpeg
