Carrier vs thermoking

Carriers are cheaper, and bean counters love cheap ####, that’s why there’s more of those lawn mower sounding junk running next to you every other night then TKs

 

You'll sleep better with a TK, Carriers are friggin LOUD. Especially on startup, sounds like a dang helicopter taking off.

 

Find a trailer that suits you first then worry about the unit. I wouldn't pass a good deal or a trailer specced like I wanted just because of the unit.

 

I pull both. Fortunately mostly TK. At least the ones we have (Swift Refrigerated) the TK's are quieter, use less fuel and I've had fewer problems with them. Now, part of that may be that all our newer ones are TK and only some of the older ones are Carrier.
That said, I'll pull whatever I get. But, my choice is TK over Carrier.

 

I would buy which ever is the cheapest. Times have gotten tighter. So gotta sharpen the pencil.

 

Most units are carriers.
Cheap to work on compared to TK.
Sound don't bother me much.

Now if the price is right I wouldn't care and buy either.
Can't really go wrong as there are only 2 reefer units available.


I like great dane trailers.

 

I've had both. Carriers are cheaper up front and break down more often, but are less expensive to repair. Thermo King has the superior dealer network. Less downtime and quality service when needed is more important to me, so I have TK units.

 

100's of trailers over the years with both. TK cost's more than 3/4's again as much in repairs vs Carriers.(motor problems) Cooling systems are about the same in repairs.

 

I have 10 TK’s in the lineup and zero Carriers. Drivers heavily prefer the TK’s due to noise and I also like TracKing from TK. Remote tracking, on/off, fuel level, etc. Carrier May have similar I have no idea.

I’ve been happy so haven’t felt a need to make a change. The TK guys give me free shirts, hats, and golf balls too so that’s the real reason. lol
