Yeah ok I think you missed something here so ... here is the thing.
You may have dealt with people at a different level as the OP, I expect you did, as I have with commercial broadcast radio, the op asked an opened ended question, and there was a gap is created.
for example ...
You have someone walk into your radio shop (let's just pretend you have one) and he walks up to the counter and says this "my radio doesn't work" and expects you to tell him what's wrong without it being there.
Now what?
I have to ask what does he mean, does it receive, does it transmit, is it the meter off its bearings, which version (there are I think 9 or 10 versions of the 29 not including where they were made). This is where I start, not that the meter is defective, I have to use the basics on how to troubleshoot something to see if it is a meter or something else (could be D12 or someone screwed with VR23 (I Think that's the one to adjust the S meter). You know as I do that just because someone says one thing doesn't mean that it is the same thing as someone else is saying it.
OH and to the OP, not calling you dumb or anything like that, but sometimes these radios are a PIA to figure out what's what.
