    Hello everybody,

This forum (especially @Chinatown) was extremely helpful and responsive in my first post here and helped me to decide to go with private training and not company, now I'm going to be graduating soon and have a question...

I cannot find ANY companies in the Salem, Portland, or Albany areas that hire graduates that don't have horror stories about them all over from many sources. Seems like most companies willing to train are terrible!!!!

I'm a felon from 2016, but I have a perfect driving record and great job history, the past record is the only challenge I face. Not super picky about pay, I just want to get trained and be paid "fairly."

Can you suggest any companies that I can reach out to in hopes of beginning the screening process with so I can get to work and get trained as soon as I graduate?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to going OTR full time as I want to make the money, just don't want to be away from family for extremely extended periods. I get being away, but not really wanting to be out for 6-8+ weeks at a time.

    Thank you for your time!

I've been debating reaching out to them. They are hot and miss but most horror stories I've heard are from ppl doing training through them.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

Who have you contacted that won't work with you. There are so many companies between Albany and Portland there should be something out there for you. Have you considered any dock to driver programs or local stuff like Yellow, Oak Harbor, ABF, etc...? You have May and CR England plus a host of other big carriers in this region

Not many will work with felon from 2016, so my options are limited. I'm in a really good location (I-5 corridor) which is why I'm surprised there aren't more willing to train.

Also I am going off of positions I find here, Craigslist, indeed, etc.

I will look at all that you suggested though. Thank you for the suggestions.

So, you're a felon; well, join the family. No big deal on the criminal record...lol.

What do you mean by no big deal. Most companies will work with me because I really want to get back to work!

I meant, criminal record is not problem; plenty of good jobs for you. Don't misunderstand me, because myself and many others are on your side and been in a similar situation.
