And another I don't think was mentioned. When going around a corner and especially a downhill one, accelerate just a tiny bit so you're pulling it through the corner, not having it push you. If it's pushing you then you increase the chances of jackknifing quite a bit.

I agree with running them locked in. That's a bad idea at highway speeds. It'll just throw you sideways even quicker if you break traction.

Also before you enter a curve already be slowed down to the speed that's safe. You don't ever wanna get on the binders on a curve

Slow and steady, if you dont feel confident stop at a truck stop, wait for it to clear. Good luck.

    Haven’t read through.
Biggest thing is to use wisdom in deciding whether or not to drive. Worst situation is just below freezing when it’s been raining. I saw hundreds of trucks towed off i80 in Nebraska cause they thought they could. Another time. I parked in NE Ohio. Had been raining. Getting colder. Turned to snow. Next morning when I headed to Clearfield PA. There were 10 trucks off the road. 3 of them bad rollovers.

Jake with the power divider on is a really bad idea.

Power divider will increase your turning radius by a little bit, lockers even more.

Use them to get going but not all the time, the power divider used all the time is subject to wind up, and won't release it when you need to when wound up.

In forward, without the power divider, lockers engaged, if you steers.are being pushed, find a place to park quickly.

If your steers are being pulled in reverse push in the clutch or put the truck in neutral to get steering back.

As other have said, slow and smooth and watching for changes in conditions are the main points.

Watching for taillights in front of you shining on what you think is a wet road, especially when your tires are quite is another warning sign.

Accelerating out of a trailer skid is your only option BTW, so keeping some RPMs to allow for that is also important.

Really experience is the main way to avoid problems IF you avoid complacency.

I should note that heavy in winter is easy, light is a problem because of less traction and because brakes are harder to modulate.

A power divider up hill may make it less likely you will spin to a stop, but everyone I have run across who has wrecked on this road had the power divider and/or locker on.

You lose traction going around the switchbacks even in summer, so there is an art to it.

But ABS can't work as well with them on and it makes it much more likely that multiple tires will skid.

A jeep like 4x4 has a powered front axle and when you turn those tires help you turn. On large trucks they wan to make you go straight and the steers are light and thin in comparison.

People may get away with driving all locked up, but it isn't helping unless forward traction is the issue. They are always going to degrade braking and steering.
