    Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing tons of research on companies that do CDL training ever since I learned I can finally drive. I started with a pretty large list on my own and narrowed it down to a couple, then spoke with some awesome folks on here who added even more and I’ve finally settled on Prime. All the while I’ve been slowly chipping away at getting my CLP (I’ve gotten my FMCSA Vision Screen, my DOT Medical Card, have used CristCDL and CDLPrep every day, have read the handbook from cover to cover, etc.).

I’m currently in a weird situation in which I have quite a bit of time into my current career. Unfortunately, my current company is relocating and I cannot bring myself to drag my household across the state for the pay they offer. Deadline is end of September.

One of my biggest concerns is my CLP. I’m 100% confident that I will pass all testing, but I live in Maine and they have a 6-8 week wait before I can get in to take my exam. I just also learned they require an original birth certificate WITH the application (I thought I just had to bring it in when I tested) and I JUST ordered one last week, which is another 30 day wait. At this rate, I wouldn’t even be able to apply at Prime until the end of October.

My question is, is it an absolute necessary step to have my CLP when I get there, or would they work with me to test immediately upon arrival?

Am I completely screwed, or is there any way to work around this?

    Any help/advice is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Maybe you should ask Prime?

The peanut gallery will only give you opinions, while going to the source will give you real answers.

I’m gonna try shooting them a call tomorrow, just have been weary about it as I’ve heard companies like to put you on essentially a black list if you call and seem like you can’t find your way out of a wet paper bag. Another reason I haven’t called yet is because I work three jobs currently - two others on top of my actual career field - and I can’t find their recruiting hours of operation.

Not finding your way out of a wet paper bag is relying on second hand or uninformed opinions for your answers.

If a company would turn you away for asking simple and relevant questions, would you really want to work there?
Because if they are that lame before you get hired, just think of what they must be like after.

    By the way...

How many jobs you work is beside the point.
And office hours are office hours - Monday - Friday 9-5 in their local time zone.
    Online applications run 24/7.
    Simple.

It’s actually the whole point. If they run M-F 9-5 then the fact that I work my full time followed by my part time from 8-10 means I can’t call and speak to a recruiter.

I do finally have an early day again tomorrow, I get off at 5 and will try then.

    Thanks.

I've never heard of any trucking company blacklisting an applicant for asking them questions, maybe if you were calling then 10 times a day and seemed mentally ill, which you don't to me. You don't have to find the number for recruiting dept. Any phone number Prime shows on their web site will work. Whoever answers outside calls will transfer you to recruiting. Since you are focusing on Prime, you can and should also read and ask this question in the Prime section.

Try this number for Prime (417) 866-0001.
It seems Prime uses some sort of online chat feature for those getting info on the website.

Recruiters will talk to you whenever you tell them you will be available. Since Prime looks like they use the chatbot on their web site maybe you can use your smartphone to view the Prime web site and chat while you are at work or when you get a break. I suspect the Recruiter will call you after you give your phone number to the chat application running on the Prime web site.

I just chatted with them, they’re all booked until October. Back to the drawing board lol.
